  1. Dude, read the post you responded to.
  2. You don't even need a game to do that.
  3. How? It's not like there's a lot of competition for being "one of our best free agent acquisitions in awhile". Even if he wasn't hitting like he has been, he's a legit starting shortstop - which we needed - and he's relatively cheap.
  4. Getting defensive reps at any position is what you can do in intrasquad games at any level. Offensive reps - I don't buy it.
  5. I'd prefer to play Mountcastle at 1B. Playing Davis at all is crazy - he's been the single worst player in MLB the last 2 or 3 years - setting all kinds of records for putridity. That's a thing - because of Chris Davis.
  6. That should be a non-issue. There should be plenty of at bats for everyone that matters. Smith obviously doesn't matter, and there's no reason for them to favor Williams or Stewart with at bats over Diaz - zippy - none.
  7. Nobody suggested sitting on the bench with the O's.
  8. This really needs to be emphasized. Prospects won't develop if they're not played! The single most important thing for the O's to do this year is to develop their prospects! Why are people content with that not happening? Do they want the O's to stay in last place forever?
  9. Agreed, and the only way to find out is to actually play him over awful players like Chris Davis and Dwight Smith Jr.
  10. Maybe this'll make sense to you: The draft is much less of a crapshoot at the top of the first round than it it is at the bottom. Baby steps.
  11. That's too simplistic. Even if that's true (and I think it's basically true), having the slot money for drafting 2nd still was a very big asset that they took advantage of. It may or may not work out, but it made a big difference in what they were able to do later in the draft. It's very important to have a high pick, imo - regardless of the fact that they could screw it up.
  12. Can 7 picograms of that really make any difference?
  13. I think this is all a non-issue because we don't have any veterans that other teams are most likely going to give up valuable prospects for - maybe a secret decoder ring form a box of Cracker Jacks. I have zero interest in acquiring potential 5th or 6th starters, and I can't imagine we're going to be buyers. And the last thing I'm going to is complain about getting is a few more wins. If it happens, it happens. Woe be we.
  14. Current forecast says rain will stop between 1 and 2, and the sun will be up around 4. Sounds like we got a decent shot of getting in a game tonight.
  15. Let's see how he does in the World Series before giving him a contract extension.
  16. Ok, maybe Ruiz is better than Brooks and Manny, but at least admit that he's no Craig Worthington. That's where I draw the line.
  17. Sounds like the rain will stop around 4 PM, but the field will probably still be a mess - seems unlikely they'll get the game in - unless there's some heroics with the draining of the field. Everyone get a bucket!
  18. Oh man, that's horrible news regardless of what trade options it gives to the O's.
  19. Him and Dusty. And both made their names with the Cubs - as managers. More amazing - I'm old enough to remember watching Dusty play with Hank Aaron - who caused me to be a Braves fan, but I digress... quite a bit.
  20. Hey, Babe Ruth is well rested, too. What - too soon?
  21. That's crazy in this day and age. I've thought of Maddon as one of the great managers in the game, but this is hard to get around.
  22. Ok, I didn't realize we have a series starting tomorrow against the Marlins.
