Favorite current Oriole and it's not close. He was interviewed recently on an Oriole podcast and he seems like a good guy to root for.

My guess is Tyler has a tired arm. He didn't pitch in 2019 or 2020. The 9 HR's in 54 innings are a huge concern, but he's only allowed 13 in 255 in the minors. He'll be a valuable piece next year.

This has absolutely been a successful season for Hays. I doubt less that 50% of fans thought he'd have 450+ AB's, let alone 20+ HR's with solid defense. Starting next year at 26, we possibly have 2-4 years of solid or increased production. I'm looking forward to it.

Bummer for Mateo.
He certainly earned consideration for a spot next ST.

Maybe he'll play RB as well.

Not the coaches fault...horrible news. Who loses 3 RB's in 2 weeks?
-
Age 26-29 seasons...Good sign and with the increased cap the next few seasons, it will look even better vs his production.
I hope it means they're looking to try a similar 4 year deal with LJ in the top 3-5 range. Anything longer or more and I'd have reservations.
If we're getting a SB with this core, it will be in the next 4. Sounds pretty obvious, but the window is so short in this league..

Anybody but Bell
Couldn't agree more..Two major injuries at RB for a run heavy team is concerning. Next man up..

I'd rather bring up guys like Kevin Smith and Dean Kremer for the rest of the season and use them in bullpen roles. Both have high SO rates, and we should be seeing what they can do in the majors. Salvage what's been an awful year for Kremer, and be honest that Smith's future is as a reliever.
Excellent idea.

They mentioned him on the O's radio broadcast last night and quoted a scout that he has "generational power".

Now, would I replace Hyde right now? No.
Would anyone take this job right now?

We're not losing 4-3. We're getting beat 15-2 or 10-0. It's time for a new manager.
No other manager in MLB could do any better with this group of players.

A smart business decision that any of us would do as well.

Not to change the subject, but GROD should be on the same bus.

Good thought, except that he's cheap (for LA) insurance in the 'pen.

Bautista strikes out the side in the 9th following a leadoff walk, preserving a 4-0 win. That’s the third consecutive outing where he struck out the side. He’s had 23 strikeouts in 12.1 innings since being promoted to Bowie, and he had 28 K’s in 15 innings at Aberdeen.
Sounds like he needs to be in AAA with a cup of coffee in September.

The 2014 Royals were pretty nuts. Almost three players with 30 steals (Cain 28, Escobar 31, and Dyon 36 off the bench) plus two more starters with double digits (Gordon and Aoki).
We don't speak of such team on this site.

He'll be 24 in October. Hopefully he's in AAA soon and knocking on the door next year.

He was a SP in his younger days (through JR season).

Tyler Wells was the difference in this game. If he doesn't come in and snuff out that Tanner Scott induced rally with the two big strikeouts to keep it 4-4, I'm not sure we win this game. Scottt and Fry were awful last night. Something to watch with the lack of tacky stuff.
Great call...Rule 5 guy gets out of a Bases Loaded - 1 out jam. I don't know what he said, but it was nice to see some excitement walking off the mound.

Houston is my local market (in OKC)?! so I was able to watch the last few innings. I don't know what to say about Scott. I don't know how Hyde left him in after walking in after walking in the first run. The top 4 are fun to watch..

In the month since I started this thread, Mullins has stolen 8 bases without getting caught, raising his success rate to a healthy 78%. He’s also 1 for 1 on attempted bunt hits.
I'm glad he took this thread to heart.

Last Friday "Locked on Orioles" did a nice piece on the underrated Delmarva staff. They interviewed the Delmarva Director of Broadcasting joined and talked about the UFDA's, older guys for the league, etc with names mentioned above. Griff is the highest drafted player and is doing well, but others deserve recognition.
