  1. GEEZ! Let's just throw in Jackson Holliday and Sammy Basallo as sweeteners while we're at it!!!!
  2. It may be partly by design, given the change in dimensions of Camden Yards... but where are the right-handed hitters? Cowser- L Bassallo-L Kjerstad-L Holliday-L Stowers (AKA- the forgotten man)- L Beavers-L Bradfield-L (Not to mention Gunnar who graduated last year, hits lefty). For Righties I have Mayo, Ortiz, Norby. ( I won't include Fabian yet- he needs to prove himself a more capable hitter for me).
  3. In my opinion, if MLB is not going to have a cap, they need to do more. There should be a foreign player draft like the June amateur draft where the teams draft the players in order of reverse finish. The worst team should have the opportunity to draft and add Yammamoto to their team, not whichever team's owner is the richest. Teams above a certain payroll should sacrifice draft picks, and international draft picks. Teams that lose a valuable free agent should be picking at the front of the rounds in the draft, not after the top 30 players are gone... there is a lot more that could be done... Or the player's union could stop being such disgusting greedy pigs and allow a cap- like all other sports have done....
  4. Disagree. MLB continues to poop on small market teams. The draft is a crapshoot- many of these guys are never heard from, even first rounders. The International guys are also a crapshoot- some teams hit the jackpot with a Juan Soto while other teams get a Yusniel Diaz. And the very best International Free Agents sign with the highest bidder- favoring the large market teams. We'll see which zillionaire signs Yammamoto... Billionaires can purchase World Series titles with a checkbook (it happened this year). MLB has done nothing to create parity. This is putting lipstick on a pig. #Theonlysportwithoutacap.
  5. 1 team with a losing record is an overrated division? The wins and losses axiomatically illustrate the point. There is no "rating" the division. Empirically the teams are better. End of argument.
  6. All 30 teams will be bidding, so at best the odds of landing him are 1/30 (and probably less than that....) Still, am I wrong to think this is a match made in heaven? He'd get to pitch for a playoff team coming off a 100 win season. We could desperately use a quality starter- and he happens to be young and in his prime and has Cy Young caliber stuff.... OPEN THE CHECKBOOK ANGELOS!
  7. I plan to be Butt Hurt for a while.... We play in the most difficult division in the sport. The Yankees will spend another Billion dollars and put themselves back in World Series contention like they do every year. Tampa will always be in the hunt. The Jays and even the Red Sox have rebuilt themselves and will be sniffing the post season.... The Rangers spent a gazillion dollars and brought in Seager, Scherzer, Chapman, Semien, DeGrom, Evoldi, Perez- showing that you can purchase playoff appearances and titles like a commodity... Meanwhile, Angelos will force Elias to pick through the bargain basement bin for spare parts like always... And we need 2 Starting pitchers and a closer... While there is a lot to look forward to as an Oriole fan, you never know what the future may bring and I plan to be sore for a while that we did not capitalize on this opportunity....

    Superstitions

I did see a game where Ryan McKenna hit a walk off HR to win... and I saw one game where Fujinami actually managed to get people out in a game we won... so that's 2 that I can think of.... Still, I will be content to have my phone notify me when the games are over and I can check the score.
  9. What was the O's record in City Connect jerseys? I went to 2 games this year wearing it and they lost both games 8-1, so It likely will live in my closet for the rest of eternity never to be worn again... I will also not go in person or watch on TV- I think they are winless when I do. They seem to win whenever I am not looking so I will be content to not look until the games are finished. I've even "peeked" on my mobile phone and converted games we were winning into defeats... I literally watched just one inning of this year's All Star game where Felix Bautista blew the save. Any other silly superstitions people have out there?
  10. I began following the O's when I was 8 years old in 1977 (yes, I'm getting old....). I got to enjoy the '79 and '83 WS teams. I loved the '89 Why Not? team. I enjoyed the 1996 power house team and the surprisingly resurgent 2012 team and the dominating 2014 team. But there is something about this team that just is so much fun. The best defense I've ever seen, aggressive scrappy baserunning, timely hits. And the collection of characters and back-stories- there are some really interesting characters on this team. And the team chemistry seems like the best ever.... A joy to watch (on TV... I don't go in person because I'm the worst jinx ever and they always lose when I go in person... .)
  11. geez.... they're starting to remind me of the '27 Yankees....!
  12. Sounds like he has a UCL injury and they are awaiting results of confirmatory test (MRI) before they make it "official". As we all thought, certainly seems like Tommy John coming.... Ugh....
  13. How was his velocity? How did his changeup look?
  14. Pitcher: John Means? DL Hall? Someone else? Position player: Colton Cowser? Heston Kjerstad? Jackson Holliday? Someone else?
  15. What he's doing in his first full pro season is just unbelievable... OPS > 1.000 Anyone know his lefty/righty splits?
  16. It was a disaster when I attend a game a few weeks ago. The food quality was horrendous. The lines were endless. Just an awful experience. They need to start all over from scratch...
  17. I saw this posted on a Yankee$ fan website: "The O's will collapse down the stretch. They are winning with guile and smoke and mirrors- it won't be sustainable. They have 3 average-ish starters whose arms will fall off from never having thrown this much before. They have no ace or even near top of rotation quality starter. Middle relief is poor. The back end is good but, my god, those poor guys pitch like every night. Lineup is spotty and they have no middle of order masher bat..." Valid concerns? or Sour grapes?
  18. He is known for his "flat" pitches. He has had some success because he can throw very fast, but it is very straight... Sadly not much movement. I wonder if he can grip the ball a little differently to impart some better movement....? I guess people have probably tried all kinds of things to help him along....
  19. Kremer started off the year pretty good and 2 of his last 3 outings were good, but his ERA is now around the 5.00 mark and he seems to have reverted back to mediocre girl-with-the-curl type...
  20. No question Miller was a incredible dominant force in the pen that enabled a playoff run. But we then had no viable starting pitching for years and sure could have used Rodriguez. That was a LOT to give up for a 2 month rental. Although I guess to be fair, if we had won it all that year, I would probably feel completely different about it!
  21. If I am not mistaken, we would lose Lucas anyway this year in the Rule 5 draft- he'd be eligible to be taken and probably we have 40 other guys we'd need to protect. Lots of teams would be willing to take a shot at a Lefty reliever with a 95 MPH fastball in the rule 5 draft. So we get a 2 month rental of a potential quality back end reliever for a guy who'd likely be gone anyway... Like Fujinama, but don't be overly wowed by the 100 MPH. Scouts say it's very flat and straight. My son plays 18U travel and I've seen him flail helplessly at 85 MPH fastballs with crazy movement and crush an 89 MPH fastball that was flat and straight...
  22. Maybe we can bring back Koji Uehara's interpreter..... I think Oakland "won" the last trade. Cole Irvin is sort of meh... The guy we gave up is at AAA hitting .342 on the year with .892 OPS. I know, we have plenty of other infield prospects, but still the guy they got is going to give them a lot more than the guy we got.... I hope this trade doesn't bite us in the butt. I'm still sore from giving away Eduardo Rodriguez for a reliever rental... Although I don't think Easton Lucas will turn out like Eduardo Rodriguez....
