  1. Castro is not the only person that has lost confidence when he pitches!
  2. What the hey? Thought there were announcements coming over a week ago. Crickets from the Warehouse.
  3. O'Day has missed significant time due to injuries for a number of years now. I don't think that's likely to change. Redirecting that money to other, more important areas has value.
  4. It was $2,500,000 in slot money in the Gausman trade. They got $250,000 for Brach.
  5. Given the extra year of control, Villar for Schoop even up isn't looking like a bad deal for the Orioles. The additions of Carmona and Ortiz have the potential for making this deal real win.
  6. I think the trade accomplished a number of positives. It unloaded two large contracts for 2019, Gausman's and O'Days. Rebuilding teams need to minimize salaries. It brought back a large international bonus allotment that should enable them to bring in at least one major international signing. Brought back a talented young 3rd baseman that isn't a "Top 100" prospect now but could develop into one in the near future. The other players could play roles on an MLB roster although I doubt any turn into regulars. On top of that, I'm just not that into Gausman. Maybe Atlanta can tweak his pitch usage, i.e. more split fingers and less fastballs, etc., but I doubt that there's much that they can do with how well or poorly he commands those pitches. Maybe in the era of "openers" they turn him into a four innings "second" pitcher. But, I'm fine with the trade and return.

    The Moesquito!

Dent made it to Bowie with the O's and then spent a year with the Dodgers AA squad. He ended his career in 2002 in independent ball. It appears that in 2016 he was arrested after masterminding a series of "smash and grab" robberies of jewelry stores in southern California, stealing $6million in Rolex watches and other jewelry. Amazing what you can find with the google machine. http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-nine-indicted-rolex-theft-20160616-snap-story.html
  8. Disagree. Shedding salary is a huge part of what they should be doing. Tampa Bay is committed to less than $10mil next year. Now, when they're done with arbitration and the minimum salaries for their pre-arb players, it will certainly be more than that. But, they dumped all of their big salaries. We've added quality depth to the farm, even if we didn't get more than one potential "star" player. We've added international slot allocation to help us reel in the consensus #1 international amateur in this year's class. We've committed to spending more on scouting, player development, and international talent. That cost money and one of the ways you get that money is to shed unneeded salaries. O'Day was an unneeded salary.
  9. Well, the other team could be checking Valencia's medicals. Other teams do that, too.
  10. Signed through 2020 and owed $14.5 mil in 2019 with a $2.5 mil buyout in 2020 (team option for $16.5 mil). Easier to walk away from that than the Davis deal.
  11. The injuries may help the spring performance, but last time I checked, these games don’t count. Those guys are going to be on the ML roster so a least Davis needs to get some work in.
  12. Santander and Mancini are the two biggest reasons that I wish Trumbo was not on this team.
  13. Gotta admit, I didn't! Stand corrected.
  14. Buck has gone out of his way to praise Santander for his work ethic and efforts to improve, both on offensive and defensive, this Spring. He's the adult among the prospects.
  15. Is poor Ryan going to get his feelings hurt and start crying because Buck told us what he said? Well, there's no crying in baseball! Rogers Hornsby was my manager, and he called me a talking pile of pigs--t, and that was when my parents drove all the way down from Michigan to see me play the game! And did I cry? No! No! And do you know why?... Because there's no crying in baseball! There's no crying in baseball, no crying! I think Mountcastle will be able to handle this just fine. And might even turn into a better ball player for it.
  16. Would he have been protected if healthy last year? Seems like he could easily have been a guy that the Indians might have added to the 40 man, but took a risk that no one would draft him due to his health. This would mean he's not the typical Rule 5 pick that wasn't quite good enough for his team to put him on the ML roster. IOW, he's not Joey Rickard or Ryan Flaherty.
  17. Mike Friers accepted a one-year offer from another team over a 2-year offer from the Orioles just a couple of months ago.
  18. Or, Garcia preferred to sign with Toronto and not pitch in Camden Yards. A lot of factors play into and it may not be as simple as you paint it.
  19. No it's not. It's only two letters. I and F. A pretty small word, actually.
  20. Recommended supplemental reading: mlbtraderumors.com Anyone will quickly see that the first moves of the off season for nearly every team in baseball are the Ryan O'Rourke types of signing. They are routine. And, I'm sure the fan forums for every team have the same type of complaints!

    Austin Hays

At this point Hays, Santander, and Sisco, along with Mancini should get regular starting time.
