  1. Not a single Cease and desist pun? Hmmmm....
  2. I want to add that Cease is 10 days older than Kremer, with both just recently turning 28.
  3. That crossed my mind as well, but it's my hope that Wells helps fortify our pen, especially after the loss of Bautista. Wells may be better served as well, throwing less innings.
  4. What makes you feel this way? What has Hall done in six seasons that has you believing it's silly to consider anyone else? And to be clear, as I said earlier, I wouldn't be shocked if the O's wanted that from him, but it would be a surprise to me. Especially if it worked on well. If we don't add a starter, then I'd prefer Cole Irvin get it, as he's done it and has no issue throwing a lot of innings. Less upside but less risk.
  5. I just don't see Hall as a viable option as a starter. In his six seasons with us (didn't play in 2020), he's never shown the ability to go six innings in his starts, and even five seems a stretch. His minors' stats have him throwing a total of 353.1 IP with 82 starts and 43 relief appearances. It's hard to find the specific details, but (best guess) he averaged somewhere around 3.5-4 IP per start. He's only tossed 33 innings as an Orioles in his career, with all but 3.1 as a reliever, so that's too small of a sample size to consider. Does this mean he's incapable of better? No, though I think utilizing him in relief optimizes his talent, over attempting to ask for something he's never given us. If the O's see it differently, then have at it, but I'll be surprised if it works out favorably.
  6. BTW, where do I find these #X Prospect threads? I've searched for various prospects and cannot find them that way. Odd.
  7. I'd love to see the results of a poll asking if we (posters) would do that deal.
  8. I understand what you're talking about, as a GM must take these things into consideration, but I don't think it's prudent to say that we have players A, B, C, D, and E even after the trade, so therefore it's okay to pull the trigger. I see your post as a 'Part One' of sorts, and again, that's important in order to consider the trade, but the other part to why a trade should or should not be agreed to is perceived value. What is the value of Ortiz worth in the trade market (as well as his value to you)? Same with Kjerstad and Povich. Add that value up versus the other team's player(s), with Part One factored into the equation, and there's your answer. An example of this is trading Holliday straight up for Cease. We would still have Westburg, Ortiz, and Gunnar (and Kjerstad and Povich), but we wouldn't do it because Holliday has more value than Cease. I'm sure you understand this, but just wanted to elaborate.
  9. Great find @RZNJ, and you're right, he does look very comfortable and has that rocket arm. Great throw.
  10. Thanks for sharing this. FWIW this seems more like a prediction than a rumor. Appreciated nonetheless.
  11. Perhaps you can check out the many Youtube videos of people trying the glasses for the first time, which is remarkable. Also, the cost (around $300) is way down from years ago. If interested, visit their website to learn more.
  12. Thank you kindly for the reply. With the O's an Orange team, I like to post a few things in orange from time to time, but will try to remember that the red/green spectrum (including orange) is difficult for most color blind people (as you said green is fine for you). I'm curious if you've tried the EnChroma Glasses, and if so, how that went? Again, much appreciated.
  13. That's kind of you, as was your work with that charity.
  14. I expect this to be moved by mods, but I ask this mainly in reference to our most popular forum. I often post with bold and/or colored text to highlight certain things for our posters. However, after some thought about it, I conducted some brief research on just how many folks are blind, visually impaired, and color blind, just in the U.S. alone and was astonished that roughly 13% are blind or visually impaired and 5% of people are color blind. That would be plenty of posters between these groups. Getting to my point, I'd like it if those that are blind or visually impaired or color blind to offer guidance to help them "see" these highlights. I have read that using colors in the red/green spectrum would be the worst choice, while blues are more likely to be seen, so I'll try to remember to do blues. Anyway, any advice on to how I or we post that could be helpful to you? Thank you.
  15. The 36-year old righty had a 3.02 ERA for the season: 7.09 with Boston and 0.70 with the Dodgers. His FIP was 3.18. He has a career ERA of 3.88.
  16. Your answer doesn't necessarily indicate a major concern, but rather the most concern. (BTW, I get that DH isn't technically a position)
  17. Good post. I believe Hall's starting days are over and he should be a back of the pen guy moving forward. He may yet develop into a real force there.
  18. So, Westburg voters... now that Westburg is well ahead in the poll, who plays 3B under this scenario?
  19. I would not be surprised at all to find Gunnar starting at SS this season and for many seasons to come. He showed marked improvement during the season and looks to be a strong defender at SS, as well as above average at 3B. Now, if Ortiz is in Elias and Hyde's plans, I imagine it'll be at SS as Ortiz is perhaps a bit better there than even Gunnar, which could push Gunnar to 3B. But I could also see Hyde sticking with Gunnar at SS and letting Ortiz compete for the 2B job. Again, plenty of possibilities. While it's hard to figure out, especially at this juncture, it IS fun to speculate.
  20. I started the thread because there are many possibilities and no certainties. I agree that Holliday most likely begins in AAA. I also believe Ortiz will make the team and start, either at SS or 2B. IMHO, the best lineup we can put together before Holliday's call up would be Gunnar at 3B, Ortiz at SS, and Westy at 2B. From my vantage point, Ortiz seems pivotal.
  21. With the versatility we have on the roster, I wanted to clarify "regular" as meaning the player who will man 2B most often.
  22. As Mewleski said, Elias doesn't need to do anything... yet. Naturally when there is a logjam of prospects pushing their way up for playing time, it's a great "problem" to have. Injuries may occur at a position or two, or in some cases prospects will just be better options to take over. Either way, at some point, a trade or three seems inevitable. If not this Winter, then by the deadline I'd think.
  23. Okay, that may be the worst joke I've ever told! LOL! But I don't want to change it either!
