He is a great story. We will have to continue to make room for him because he is the 90% outcome for many behind him.

His accuracy is the issue. It’s awful. He almost never puts a throw in the bag.

Coloumbe's avg fastball velocity this year is 90.8 mph. Last year it was 91.4. You can figure that Povich will tick up in relief and likely throw harder than Danny. The highest avg. velocity in 2023 for Vespi on any pitch was 90 mph on his fastball. My only point in citing the prospect rankings and the front office is that they are both likely more adept at judging prospects than either of us are.

You rightly listed ahead of Povich the guy that is probably closest to him--Coloumbe. Coloumbe is an excellent reliever. Zimmerman was never talked up by management like Povich. Zimmerman was never a top 100 prospect on any prospect list like Povich. Zimmerman and Povich are currently on the same team and one is clearly superior to the other.

Perhaps they are considering giving Westburg time at first. He is 6'2". His arm isn't as bad as Mountcastle's but it isn't as good as Mayo's. He also seems to do well moving around. That is the only strategy that I can see but that doesn't work while Mountcastle is here.

Sorry, it's kinda insane to argue that a guy that is effective for 5 innings won't be as good as a reliever who is sometimes good for 1.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic, but we have seen that the AAA to MLB jump is as big as ever. Also, if you are going to bring him up to the majors, where does he play? Do you play him at 3rd, leave Holliday down, and then move Westburg to the second. Do you bench Westburg? Do you DH him? He can't play first or OF with current experience.

He should be in AAA all season and get work at First and OF. Westburg , Holliday, and Gunnar have spots in the IF. Mayo is going to need to play first or OF

Catch probability is a little unfair here. That ball really hit off the very end of the bat. That always is more difficult play for an outfielder.

Don’t forget EPO. It’s amazing how blind an eye people turn to the NBA probably because the biggest name has credible ties to it.

How would making him a reliever help if he is giving it up in the first?
