  1. I hate the Yankees. But I respect them and I certainly respect their history. The pinstripes and their uniforms are iconic and instantly recognizable. It is disgusting to see them sell advertising space on their uniforms. Advertisements on the outfield walls, fine. Leave jerseys alone.
  2. It depends on so much. Anything can happen in a playoff series and a lot of it has to do with who is hitting their stride at that time. I can see everything from a first round bounce to a series win. Too hard to speculate on.
  3. I understand his point. But it’s also silly to grade a player on a 20 (F) to 80 (A+) scale and then not give a letter grade. Or say that someone has “plus plus” stuff. Anyway, it’s been forever since I’ve seen you on here. Hope you’re doing well and post more here please.
  4. This probably would be better served in the specific grade idea thread. Wanted to get to it before @Can_of_corncould get all in his feelers about it.
  5. I think they made a conscious effort to go after pitching this year.
  6. Well you can tell them Keith Law thinks letter grades are stupid, too.
  7. Sounds like some touchy-feely BS that'd be popular today. "Oh no, no grades, don't want to hurt anyone's feelings who didn't get an A!" Ain't that right, @Sports Guy?
  8. They used to do this. Apparently the 1987 version had Cal Ripken taking a cutoff throw from Dwight Evans and hitting a relay throw home but I can't find that video. Here's the 1988 version. It's awful quality, but you guys can get the idea. If you want to see Joe Carter in a bunt competition, look no further. Snarky Frobby is an underrated Frobby.
  9. Yeah, I agree. I think Manoah was the outlier for pitchers. I don't think a pitcher is going to talk all that much and we saw that last night with Eovaldi. Get one of the guys standing in the outfield, or a first or third baseman. And ask them what they think of the batter at the plate...for example, they should have gotten someone's opinion on Austin Hays last night. Tie the interview in with informing the public about the lesser-known players.
  10. Yeah, well, I think he's dumb for thinking it's dumb. If you're going to opine on how well you think a team did or didn't do, might as well slap a grade on here. And I like Keith Law, generally speaking but it's silly to call something a "report card" and then refuse to attach actual grades to it.
  11. I think today's is pretty hard. I mean, I think anything with NL teams is tricky, the NL is off my radar...so figuring out who played for the White Sox and the Diamondbacks/Marlins was a total blank for me. Those are the two I missed. My grid: I just looked at the answers for the two I missed. Oh man.
  12. Kind of disappointing the article is title report card and he doesn't give a grade. But it's a decent rundown.

  14. I don't mind the player in-game interviews. Some are bad, some are great. Last year, Alek Manoah was fantastic. But like last night with Eovaldi, it was awkward.
  15. It’s not that. It’s that he’s blown them before, he’ll do it again. I think he’s strong enough mentally to forget about it.
  16. Maybe not 5-6 times but he’s good for spiking a 55 footer once a game at least.
  17. You’re right, he does have some leeway. But he doesn’t hold runners at all. If anyone gets on and they’re a mediocre stolen base threat they can run on him with ease. He’s prone to spiking one in the dirt or airmailing the catcher. He airmailed Adley twice tonight, IIRC one allowed a runner to move up. The splitter doesn’t seem to work very well very often. It’s great when it’s on but it seems like I’m game threads we’re bemoaning the fact that it’s not working. I like Felix and the gaudy strikeout numbers are fantastic but I’ve been saying for awhile that he makes me nervous. I think he’s very good, but not elite. Games can go sideways on him in a hurry if a runner gets on, the splitter isn’t working, wild pitch, etc. Too many avenues for him to blow a game.
  18. Jose Ramirez is a guy you want in this spot.
  19. This is what you want if you’re a Mariners fan.
