  1. Looks way different without Judge. But overall I agree with you.
  2. Wonder if they can work on that noodle arm some. I remember they were able to coax a little more out of Cedric.
  3. Wanted Nimmala or Waldrep but Elias is undefeated so it’s all good.
  4. Dan O’Dowd is happy that Matt Shaw mentioned his girlfriend a bunch. He’s a well grounded individual, he says.
  5. lol the days of catching 110-120 games at the big league level are over, this guy says. Have they met Hyde?
  6. Hate to root against a kid from UVA but whatever. I hate the Sox.
  7. It’s so funny to listen to these guys drool all over these players and half of em aren’t ever in a reach the majors.
  8. Yankees lose today, Orioles win. Yankees fired their hitting coach, too.
  9. Happy to see him get a hit and an RBI today. If he’s a platoon against lefties I can deal with that. I just don’t want it coming at the expense of a guy like Westburg or Cowser.
  10. This sucks. And whatever, I just don’t like watching the guy play baseball. His at bats are terrible to watch. I will grant that his defense is mediocre at best but that’s not a reason to keep trotting him out there. He’s not Keith Hernandez. @Can_of_cornhas yet to adequately address the fact that Mountcastle’s production has steadily dropped across the board since he came into the league. Year over year, his batting average, slugging percentage, on base percentage, OPS+ has declined. Every. Single. Year. I’m not sure why anyone would intentionally overlook this but I also can’t believe that anyone would. I also don’t care that he’s 26 and might have some upside left compared to the incredibly elder statesman O’Hearn who is 29 and needs a catheter delivered to his hotel room when he’s on the road. If people want to platoon him, fine. Whatever. But I don’t see how he makes the overall roster better and more flexible especially when you have Santander and Urias who have logged time at first base. It is particularly hard to watch him hit in a lineup with Mateo, those are 6-8 automatic outs per game. And Frazier isn’t much better. If they’re putting Mountcastle into the lineup I hope they don’t have the other two in there as well. I don’t believe this team is better with Ryan Mountcastle on it. And for all of the forward thinking, progressive stuff that Elias and SigBot are into, I can’t believe they think the roster just got better with this move.
  11. Rodriguez coming up and producing would be tremendous. Can't bank on that, but he'll have his shot. If he shows significant improvement, the probability of Elias trading for a starter decreases even more. Not sure who gets bumped out of the rotation for him at the moment though.
  12. I've been meaning to try this game and I'm glad I did because it's fun! Really proud of the 30+ stolen base player I just pulled out of my ass for the Brewers.
  13. I knew Martin was struggling but I just looked and DAMN, is it bad. He might make the majors someday in a Tim Beckham type way because whichever organization he's in will want to see if they can tap that potential but it's a very strong possibility that he never sees a big league roster. It's also a possibility that guys like Kjerstad or some of our other prospects don't pan out but at least we can be confident that they'll have a shot.
  14. That's fair. I just like to keep an eye on the Yankees and hope that we're taking advantage of them while Judge is out. And fortunately for us, I don't think he's coming back anytime soon. I also like looking at the standings this year simply because the Red Sox are in last place and while that's awesome, they'd probably be in the thick of things if they were in practically any other division. I don't know if the AL East has ever been this good.
  15. I'd like a TOR starter, I'm just not sure if he pulls the trigger on one. Elias seems...methodical. And calculated. And I don't know he's going to be rushed into a big decision like trading good prospect capital for a TOR type at the deadline when the clock is ticking. I could be wrong, probably am. In other words, I don't see him making a big move when there's a deadline involved. I think what's more realistic is that he rides with this group of starters and gets some bullpen pieces. If we're looking at the staff, the middle relief is the biggest issue that needs to be addressed. I agree that the rotation could use a #1 type but I think being able to bridge to Cano/Coulombe/Bautista is the biggest issue and will continue to be as the season goes on. And it's a problem that I don't think can be fixed from our system as guys like Vespi continue to fail to impress. If Elias has another Cano up his sleeve in the form of Wandisson Charles, now would be a good time to play that card. But as it stands, I'm not so sure we have good relief options in the system. I also agree that these guys haven't thrown a lot of innings before but I think he runs that risk. To @Frobby's point, our guys have been mostly healthy this year and that's something that should be applauded. I'm not sure what Elias and SigBot have done in regards to conditioning and preparation to keep these guys off the IL or if it's just dumb luck.
  16. Yeah, that's me. I wanted Martin. Crazy how things have turned around and I'm very pleased to have been wrong.
