  1. Wonder how much of a leash G-Rod has and if they’ll bring Irvin in if he doesn’t start well.
  2. I want to see the team take their time in getting him back into the lineup. That's not a slam on Mullins by any stretch, I just don't want to see him come back and then aggravate the quad again in August or September as we get into the last part of the season. They need him, but they need him healthy. If that means they give him a few more days before bringing him back in the timeframe they typically would, I'm good with that. I want to see him fully healthy and playing every day, not rushing him back.
  3. The Dodgers come to town, 7-3 over their last 10, in first place by 1.5 games over the Giants in the NL West. This is a big test, they can score some runs but they're only 24-23 on the road. They're coming off a close 2-1 loss against the Mets. Probables: Emmet Sheehan (4.35 ERA) vs. Grayson Rodriguez (7.35 ERA) Michael Grove (6.89 ERA) vs. Tyler Wells (3.18 ERA) Julio Urias (4.35 ERA) vs. Dean Kremer (4.59 ERA) I'm astounded to see the Dodgers including someone with an ERA approaching 7.00 in their rotation. If G-Rod can prove to everyone that he learned something while in AAA and give a good start, I like our chances to win this series. I like that they're throwing him to the wolves right away, they're not trying to settle him in against a lesser opponent.
  4. I think voters these days aren't really looking at W/L record too much unless someone wins 20 which is becoming exceedingly rare. Pluses: Good ERA, if he can somehow get under 3.00 that would go a long way. Strong WHIP. Pitching like a #1 starter for a team that has strong playoff chances. If he keeps dealing against good teams, that'll help him. Minuses: Relatively unknown, not enough innings (he's 37th in the AL right now), not enough strikeouts. He's actually got as many strikeouts right now as Felix Bautista does. I don't think there's a chance he gets into the top 5, but if he received a vote and finished somewhere in the 10-12 range, I could see that happening.
  5. Missed one. Good to know that the Nationals include Expos players.
  6. If he keeps going like this, I wonder if he'll get some down ballot CYA votes. I don't see him finishing in the top 5 but I wonder if he gets any recognition.
  7. I agree, I totally blank on some of the obvious names, too. But all my years of looking at 80s and 90s baseball cards are finally paying off, albeit in a relatively meaningless way. I'm really kinda lost when it comes to 2000s players. I spent a lot of time on the one this morning, though. Kept coming back to it, I don't know how some of these players popped into my head.
  8. Came here to post something similar. It’s actually kind of impressive in a weird way. He figures out a way to get through 5 or 6.
  9. Great to get a series win. Go for the sweep tomorrow!
  10. Someone stop Kevin Brown. “The comeback kings of baseball!” Just. Stop.
  11. Would have been too much to ask to see him work a count and try to get a better pitch to hit.
  12. I can’t remember who posted that. Frazier again. Awesome.
  13. I think it’s been pointed out that he’s needed some time to adjust after each promotion he’s made.
  14. Well this isn’t the inning I wanted to see.
  15. I dunno about Coors but I don’t see how they can account for that elevation there too.
  16. Pretty sure anything over our scoreboard into the flag court at Camden Yards would be a homer there, too. I don’t get it either.
