  1. He's on the 10 day IL. I don't think it's too bad.
  2. I agree that guys like Cano are available often. I'm not sure if Cano himself would have been available any other way. Impossible to know.
  3. Kremer tonight. I know Beeks is an opener tonight, but he's got a terrible ERA. Maybe we can tattoo a few early runs. Maybe, just maybe, Kremer can get out of the first unscathed and we can actually score runs before the other team for once.
  4. I agree that Stowers should get at bats against lefties.
  5. We're also talking about what Stowers showed at the plate last year which was solid...he's not shown that this year. I agree, it's a small sample size and despite my hesitations about what he brings to the table, I still think he should get playing time because the Cowser/Kjerstad squeeze will be here in a month or two.
  6. Should've taken credit for it, I thought it was hilarious.
  7. That's what you want to see...your #1 prospect pitcher getting a win despite maybe not having his best stuff and his battery-mate franchise cornerstone catcher hitting a bomb.
  8. I think that's a fair assessment. I think McKenna provides better value as a 4th outfielder than Stowers appears to. McKenna comes in late games as a defensive replacement, and I don't see Stowers being able to be considered the same way. McKenna can hit lefties (I know, I know, Stowers can too, allegedly), .794 OPS last year against them, .892 so far against them this year. I certainly don't see Stowers as much of a hitter...granted, yes, of course, it's been a small sample size. But I don't see how he's necessarily better than McKenna at anything except power potential. Stowers also suffers because there's immediately proven MLers ahead of him (Hays, Santander) and better prospects behind him (Cowser, Kjerstad). I'm well aware that his opportunity is slim but he hasn't really done anything at the ML level to seize his chance and have Elias make a hard decision.
  9. I get that, but there's really not much they could do to make it look good for me. I mean, the Mariners latest one appears to be selling amongst their fans. Blue and gold is a good combination. The City Connect hats they have are nice, too, a good nod to their old ones from the 80s. What they're not selling, however, is the gross black pants they wear these jerseys with. No, you're only buying the tops. I mean, if I were a Mariners fan I'd seriously consider getting one of these and I'm an adult who thinks other adults wearing jerseys look like absolute dorks. All of that is to say, I don't care about what the socks look like, I don't care what the pants look like. There's not much they could do to save what is a bland, boring, simply awful jersey no matter how great the pants are, no matter how interesting the socks are, no matter how great the hat is.
  10. Guys like Cano get DFA’d frequently, this is true. But we’re not so sure that Cano himself would have been DFA’d at some point. I just want to know what Elias/Sig saw in him to target him in the trade when, I’m assuming, they could have picked any bit of Twins filler to close out the deal. Why’d they land on him? Obviously they saw something they liked but I’d like to know if it was something as simple as spin rate or something more.
  11. Yeah, no one can deny the raw talent and you’re right he can get away with things. But if he keeps up this rate of allowing baserunners, it’ll catch up eventually.
  12. You have feelings? I had no idea. To your point, it’s not necessarily wrong that he’s been one of the best closers over the last calendar year, but it can’t be denied that he’s been very different from where he was last year. He’s all over the place this year. I don’t know how he can continue to close games with the walk rate and the WHIP that he has.
  13. It’s like RZNJ stole your password.
  14. I think I’d be inclined to be more patient with Stowers if guys like Cowser and Kjerstad weren’t on the horizon. I still think he should get some more at bats over the next few weeks but he’s hardly showing anything.
  15. That’s fair but I would have rolled the dice with Cano getting another out.
  16. Another highwire act tonight. I don't think anyone understood the move of yanking Cano so he could get a 4 out save. IMO, the fact that he got the save is a bit immaterial here. Getting a DP grounder was a bit lucky, but two walks to lead off the 9th was not optimal. Bounced another pitch 45 feet from home plate to allow a baserunner to go from 2nd to 3rd. IMO, it was a minor miracle that he navigated the last of the 8th and the 9th and that the Rays didn't score. Wander Franco also didn't miss that last pitch by much.
  17. That doesn’t change the fact that he walked two batter this inning.
  18. I’m over it. I am so over Bautista.
