  1. Narcissism is a bad thing. I know you're joking, but I find narcissism to be pretty insufferable.
  2. What a narcissistic view that must be. "It doesn't affect me so I want it this way, nevermind what other people may think."
  3. Frobby keeping his baseball history pimp hand strong.
  4. We're in the character building stage? What in the actual **** have the past 35 years been about then?
  5. Oh I'm over it from an Orioles fan perspective, for sure. Here we are, sitting on our thumbs. Can we even just get a decent reliever? Sheesh. In regards to Gausman vs. Ray, I see your point. It's pretty close to a coin flip for me, both guys have questions on whether their 2021 seasons are repeatable in new environments.
  6. That would be good money for you or me or practically anyone else on this board. 600k for three years is something I'd gladly sign up for. That's probably life changing money if you invest it right and dodge taxes (legally, of course). It's easy to label them as spoiled athletes, but it seems like you're being intentionally obtuse to what they're looking for in the next CBA.
  7. The Mets still need a lot to go their way. DeGrom, as good as he is, seems to be pretty delicate. IIRC, had to shut him down a few times during last season and finally for good in mid-July. Scherzer's age is what it is. Their season is toast if those guys don't perform to what they're capable of or spend significant amounts of time on the IL. But yes, schadenfreude at the Yankees not having a good offseason thus far. You and I both know that it can change very quickly for them, however.
  8. We'll be ready to compete when and only when Rutschman makes his debut.
  9. Wow, I thought Robbie Ray was returning to the Jays. He was someone I wanted us to consider this offseason, before he won the Cy Young and drove his price up. I don't know if I like him at 5/115. I think I might actually prefer the Gausman deal, strictly because Ray smacks of a guy who had a career year in a contract season. Gausman has been good for two years (albeit a shortened 2020 season) in SF. Can Gausman keep whatever magic he found in SF? Remains to be seen. Same with Ray. Really interesting offseason.
  10. I'm not sure what's hard to understand. IIRC, WAR isn't always kind to relievers. Lorenzen has had some decent years in the past, and that article states that he's looking to be a starter again. Whether that means he'll be used as an opener of sorts or someone that's viewed as being able to go 5+ innings remains to be seen. It's a one year, 7 million dollar deal which is practically nothing. I'm not sure what market value is for a guy like that but a one year deal at that salary is akin to spending 5 bucks on one of those fancy scratch off lottery tickets.
  11. Wondering what the next 36ish hours are going to look like from a trade perspective here. Obviously there have been a flurry of FA signings but I'm not seeing many trades go through, if any. Nothing notable, at least. Curious to see what the lockout would do to a Mullins trade...no real way to tell, of course. Depending on how long the lockout is, I could see it squashing a trade market in the offseason or there could be a flurry of trades made as soon as the lockout ends.
  12. Yes. He's a staunch union guy so he wanted to set a record before doomsday on Wednesday. Rooting for the Braves to repeat in the division at least. Would like to see Cohen flail about and continue to throw money at his problems. I don't hate the Mets but if they want to be the NL Yankees, let them.
  13. The Scherzer deal is nuts. He's still really damn good, but he's in his upper 30s and 3 years at that range is still a risk. However, IMO, we're in an era where his age might not matter too much. Sports medicine and training is light years from what it was 20-30 years ago. Guys are playing better for longer. Look no further than Tom Brady. Scherzer has been durable...but man, 43.3 million a year is a lot, I don't care how many years it is. As for the Mets, desperation is a stinky cologne.
  14. Should have signed Ed-Rod? Yes. Matz? I think so, but I get why others wouldn’t and don’t blame them.
  15. Maybe. But he’s gonna shove it up our ass for the next 5 years, bank on that.
  16. Well we can be the first!
  17. I admire the optimism, but I don't know if there's recently been a 90 win team that's been pretty much made up of 100% guys promoted from within their own system. That said, I agree with most of it, except the final 2/5 of the rotation consisting of Lowther, Bradish, Baumann, Zimmermann...I just don't see it. But hopefully Hall is legit. G-Rod, Means, Hall is a nice top 3.
  18. He should have been cut, I agree. It would have also freed up a roster spot, allowed for some more flexibility, too. But if we're talking about "cost" here, I think the additional cost of the Davis contract plays a part of what you're seeing now...fear to spend in free agency due to making a bad decision.
  19. That's an eye-roll of a joke, right there.
  20. Well it's not like we have any free agent signings to discuss so...
  21. I said it before, I'll say it again. It looks like the Semien signing has all the hallmarks of a bad signing. But at least they're trying. At least they're not afraid to go for it. Maybe they know something we don't. Maybe they think they've got some prospects that are close that can help them compete. Maybe it won't be a bad signing. At least they're trying. Again, you seem to be the only one here struggling with that. I'm pretty sure I said we should have signed him to what the Tigers signed him to. I don't think I ever put Ed-Rod and blank check in the same sentence, but thanks for putting words in my mouth.
