  1. I agree, I don't think he is either. Same with Hays. Mullins, IMO, is 50/50. What are we betting he drafts a college outfield bat in the next draft? Anyway, I don't believe Santander has much trade value. I hope he's moved though.
  2. I guess. I mean, token small sample size comment, etc. There's nothing that suggests he can maintain that over a full season. He can get red hot at times and I hope that he's red hot from the start of the season to the trading deadline.
  3. Lol, have you been here long? .750 OPS is my hope for him. Honestly, just hit well enough and stay healthy enough to be traded. Mullins is holding it down in CF, but as far as I'm concerned the other two spots are up for grabs (sorry about Hays, @Frobby, I don't buy it until he's healthy for a full season) and we've got guys in the minors who are on the horizon. If that means Hays and Santander have to hold it down for this year, so be it. I don't imagine that Santander has much value but if we can get a couple mid range prospects back, that's fine.
  4. I hope Buck gets it and gets his WS ring there. I don't really care about the Mets one way or another but I want to see Buck have a better ending to his managerial career than the 2018 Orioles.
  5. Walk me through how you'd expect a GM to position a lowball offer to Trey's agent based on his cancer history. I'm curious to see how you think that'd go.
  6. Sure, Phil. Every GM would want to pay less. But that's not really going out on a limb, isn't it?
  7. No one's dying here. Sure, a GM would like to pay less for a given commodity. I'd like to go on a date with Kate Bock. But that's not how baseball contracts work and I'm not that lucky. Neither statement is realistic. It's funny to me that Phil is making this argument when at the same time one of the resounding arguments on this board is that we'll have to pay MORE to get a good free agent to come to Baltimore, especially a pitcher.
  8. Every GM wants to pay less? What'd the GM for the Rangers just do for Marcus Semien? What GM doesn't want to pay as little as possible? Why are annual contract values skyrocketing? Why'd the Mets just give Max Scherzer a record annual salary? Because every GM wants to pay less, that's why!
  9. That's a great recruiting tactic, Phil. Brilliant. "Hey, we REALLY want you to come play for us, but we're also worried about your health...so we can't offer you as much as we would if we thought you were fully healthy. Wanna come play here? Believe me when I say we REALLY want you. We just don't want to pay as much."
  10. Any GM who's been around the negotiating table long enough that's interested in Trey would say "Hey, Trey. I understand that other teams have been discounting you because of your health concerns and your health history. We here at the Boston Red Sox would like to offer you a contract that's slightly above market value in order to show you how much faith we have in you and how we want you to become a member of the Red Sox family and the Boston community." A million or two here or there won't sink a franchise if they truly like the player. I guess you feel good about trying to nickel and dime someone who's had cancer, banking on it coming back. If that's how you'd negotiate...well, that's pretty sad.
  11. They are. I'm proficient at my job and have been for quite some time now. They can't say the same.
  12. Fair enough. But that information doesn't speak to things such as age and overall health. Mancini, I'm assuming, would be in the 99th percentile for someone who's overall health would help him in a fight against cancer. 55+ and overweight? Yes, I'd believe those numbers. But for someone who's in 29 and excellent physical condition to start with, I think Mancini's odds are better.
  13. For someone who's such a propeller hat beanie lollipop guild member, this sure is sad.
  14. Interesting that you keep bringing it up like it's a cause for concern. Unless the cancer comes back, I think he's settled anything that has to do with his health. Next.
  15. I’m assuming this is the case. Galvis ain’t great but he should be on an ML roster in 2022.
  16. Looks like a team with limited OBP skills to me. They'll have torrid hot stretches and spells where they'll get shut out one night and score one run the next. Maybe slightly better than middle of the pack is as good as it can get for that group.
  17. Head coach of a basketball program at the biggest school in the state? It's gotta pay pretty well. I'm assuming 1.5-3 million a year.
