  1. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/32614373/arizona-diamondbacks-coming-nl-worst-era-2021-hiring-brent-strom-pitching-coach-sources-confirm?platform=amp Soooo…the Diamondbacks are forward thinking enough to reach out and call him while Elias, who has to have had some inroads with the Houston connection, did nothing? Granted, we don’t know for sure if Elias did nothing, but I’ve gotta assume we’d be more attractive than Arizona with G-Rod, Hall and AR. Instead….Holt. Exciting. What a wizard that guy is.
  2. It's nice to know that we finally have a chance at some of these guys. The Elias GM chapter in Orioles history has yet to be finished. At this point, I can see it going either way...triumphant victory or a cratering mess. But even if the only thing he does successfully is get us into the international market, that's still really great. That obviously won't make up for lack of success at the ML level but if we're a presence in the international market that's a win.
  3. Santander or Hays should be on the IL by then.
  4. Wow, look at wildcard being reasonable. I hope all of you realize G-Rod will be on a strict innings limit next year. No whining when they shut him down early and he's out of the ROY running.
  5. Glad to see some of the DSL guys popping up. Hopefully they're higher after 2022.
  6. People on twitter are losing their minds that Mountcastle isn't a finalist.
  7. I wonder if he'll be ready to be in Baltimore by the time AR is ready to leave via free agency.
  8. I don't know how popular it would be, though. In the NFL, say you've got the 1:5 pick. You get offered to trade back to the 1:10 spot and the team also throws in and 2nd rounder this year and a 2nd rounder next year. That's immediate value. 2nd rounders provide a tremendous amount of value. There would be a benefit to hoarding picks in the MLB draft simply because it's so wide open and a huge crap shoot. But if you're 1:5 in the MLB draft, how much of a hurry would you be in to trade back to 1:10 and get picks in the later rounds? I can see it both ways. I'm sure a lot of this would depend on how creative MLB would allow teams to be in order to trade picks but it's something that should be done. MLB does a terrible job of making itself interesting, trading picks is something the NFL/NBA has to generate interest and the MLB fails to get with the times.
  9. Absolutely. Would I want them to do it? Not sure. Would depend on a lot of things.
  10. That's interesting, I've always thought of him as a guy who can't stay off the IL so I'm surprised he's already accumulated that number. He's played in 140+ games twice, obviously can't count 2020 against him.
  11. Correa seems like a prick and I'm assuming he thinks he's worth Lindor/Tatis Jr money. Whether he gets it or not remains to be seen.
  12. Having a hard time caring about losing a reliever who had electric stuff but spent more time on the IL than he did on the mound. Great hair, though.
  13. I wasn't really talking about that. More along the lines of....if a first round draft pick put up the numbers that Stowers did, would this board be collectively ****ing their pants in anticipation.
  14. Stop using big words that only Philip knows.
  15. So would you say draft status matters? That a Top 10 pick like Kjerstad, if he put up the numbers that Stowers did this year would be highly regarded whereas a 2nd rounder like Stowers is still viewed skeptically by some? Asking for a friend.
  16. It's probably Westburg but I dunno. I get why he'd be here but I'd put Stowers here instead.
  17. Great way to assess him. I feel the same way, too.
  18. Sure, and that's fine. I'm a big fan of efficiency. **** the Yankees but let's not pretend that the Dodgers don't do the little things correctly that a small market team like the Rays do. Except they can pony up and keep their talent.
  19. I think you'll have Kjerstad in the top 10 somewhere for sure but it's tricky.
  20. Yeah man, totally. I knew you knew that, and I'd feel bad that you were trying to find reasons to get excited about guys like that!
  21. Agreed. I hope they do come back into fashion. Gotta be a way to combat the strikeout rates increasing, contact skills seem to be a natural way to do that.
