  1. I'd say about as good as the sun rising in the east tomorrow.
  2. Take a pencil or pen (preferably clean ) put it lengthwise between your teeth and drink water. My history teacher in high school said it's an old Asian technique that creates a vacuum and gets rid of hiccups. I learned this in 1983 and I've never had it not work since.
  3. Damn, that ball was a homer in 6/30 parks. Unfortunately, one of those was OPACY.
  4. 97.1 on the first hit and 74.7 on the second. Don't let a ton of hyperbole get in the way of trying to kick a man who is 2-2 down.
  5. I'd be interested in hearing that case be made. Not just out of feeling, but data. If you think they're all going to step in and be Corbin Carroll then that's probably not a thing, but I'd like to hear your case.
  6. Yoshida is also a few weeks away from being a 30-year-old "rookie" with 7 years of pro ball in Japan under his belt.
  7. It's quite possible they are waiting to see if the team falters, which it appears is the case, so maybe we'll see them all up at some point getting real play time.
  8. I'm not against bringing the kids up, not at all. I would be against them half-assing it and giving sporadic playtime. If they aren't serious about letting them develop this year and potentially punting the season if they all struggle initially then I'd rather they get everyday reps in the minors. If they are serious about playing them, then trade the people you think they'll replace and live with whatever happens in the standings during the ML adjustment they will likely face.
  9. I feel like they use the counting stats more than the metrics. If Gunnar's line doesn't look a bit better he's likely not going to win, especially with the hype surrounding him this season. He's settling in and like you said the numbers are improving and if they keep trending up, he's got a real chance. The others need to slump a bit.
  10. I appreciate the time it took to write that, but I'd be unhappy if they went for option 3. I don't think having the goal of let's win games 10-9 is remotely sustainable or would be successful. We're scoring runs and more than most teams. The starters by and large have kept us in games and the back of the pen has been super solid. They need to fix middle relief, this is where games get away from us.
  11. Good read and insight. Keep in mind, O'Hearn will be 30 next month, he's not exactly young. We talk about Santander like he's an old man and he's 28.
  12. He had over 1000 ABs on a terrible KC team and as bad as they are couldn't find a job there. He's been worth -2.0 WAR for his career and that's counting the .8 he's putting up this year. I stand by my statement. Edit: Despite two huge years of OPS+ of 154 and a whopping 173 this year his career OPS+ in six seasons is only 90.
  13. The way O'Hearn has been playing he absolutely needs to be in the lineup until he shows he's the guy he's always been. Ride the hot hands.
  14. We could always get rid of the first Mountcastle and hope he's the one with Vertigo and hang on to the second!
  15. It's pretty hard to hide vertigo. We'll know when he falls down walking to the batter's box if it's gone.
  16. We're 8th in the league in runs scored. If the goal is to try to overpower every other team when we fail to hold 7-run leads or fail to keep games close when we're down 2 or 3 runs, then we're putting a bandaid on a bullet wound. Fix the bullpen.
  17. I mean, if Hicks wasn't playing over his head we'd definitely be missing a beat. Sometimes you catch lightning in a bottle. The question becomes do you fix what isn't broken? Do you shake things up and get rid of Santander for Cowser, who realistically could perform a lot worse in his first stint in the big leagues? Is that a risk this team takes at this point or do you ride it out and if the team starts to falter then try new things?
  18. It's Yankee Stadium South. I think more NY'ers live in FL than native Floridians.
