Yea I largely agree with this; that's why I'm not going to complain about everytime he's in the outfield and Stowers is on the bench. I would think he would get anywhere from 80-100 starts in the field if he's healthy all year.
How much he gets at first is basically dependent on how well Mountcastle hits. If Mountcastle really establishes himself as an 120 OPS+ bat- well within the range of possibilities- then he should get about 155 starts a year at first, leaving virtually nothing for anyone else.
I just think we have to accept that Vavra is ahead of Stowers in the pecking order. Stowers is the 26th man. And as long as Hays, Mullins, and Santander keep playing well then his playing time will be limited.
People might not like it. People might not agree. But that's the way it is.
Class act.
Made me think immediately of Tommy Boy:
Send over a bottle of bubbly with a bucket of ice and a card. Have it say, "Tough break, get drunk on me. Use the bucket to ice down your marbles, Yours, Z."
The 8 million dollar man we were told would never come out of the lineup is on the bench today.
Getting worked up over every single lineup put out is not something I'm interested in doing. I think we're going to need a couple of weeks- at least- to start to accurately see how they plan on using everybody.
I'm surprised they were willing to move Mullins down in the lineup so early in the year. I'm not saying it's a bad decisions, just a surprising one imo.
I also think the long-term demographic decline of baseball is a factor as well, and might in the end be the biggest. Baseball is far behind as a the third most popular sport with the younger generations.
