  1. The worse move clearly was the Davis contract but funnily enough, most people were ok with it.
  2. The Orioles have made far worse moves than this one.
  3. I don't care about your facts and statistics. We all know MLB is involved in a conspiracy to favor the Red Sox and Yankees at the detriment of the Orioles.
  4. That was largely a joke though. I think the most over the top board reaction prior to this was the Taylor Teagarden trade. But that was relatively short-lived and people moved on. I don't see anybody moving on from Frazier. And to be clear, I'm not saying they're wrong in their analysis.
  5. MLB isn't going to take away Opening Day from the richest and most powerful teams in the league- i.e. the mostly northern teams in stadiums without domes. Your suggestion is perfectly reasonable. Reason isn't the issue here.
  6. I honestly in the 15 or so years of coming here can't remember a single player that elicited so much conversation an visceral reaction. It's odd.
  7. Well, I for one am not surprised that Grayson's mother is not able to look at this in a logical and rational manner. TBH, I don't expect Grayson to be dispassionate about this either. I hope he's pissed. Channel it.
  8. I had to go see for myself. Unless she deleted her tweets, she had merely retweeted other's criticisms of the move. Some were a little profane, but honestly, nothing too bad. The worst probably accusing the O's of "Kris Bryant level of service time manipulation."
  9. I think the younger your team is it is more important. And this is a young team that figures to only get younger in the coming years. I didn't like the signing; I like it even less after getting some eyes on Westburg this spring, so I"m not here to justify it. But I don't believe the FO is being disengenuous: They value the leadership Frazier provides. I'm sure it wasn't a primary factor in acquiring him though.
  10. Well, I guess that's the "proof." Of course, absence of evidence does not mean evidence of absence. I think it's perfectly reasonable to believe that the FO has more insight into Frazier's character/leadership qualities than we can glean by google.
  11. If I recall, didn't they provide some article which spoke of some sort of Christian fellowship group and that Frazier was highly regarded in those circles?
  12. I'm not sure how you can say he was terrible last year. He had a 1.46 ERA. He walked too many guys, but he was impossible to hit (5 h/9; 0 hr/9), and his FIP was a respectable 3.76.
  13. Only if watching a better player is more frustrating than watching a worse one.
  14. For his career he's been an averagish relief pitcher, and he's been getting better in more recent seasons.
  15. By what metric are you declaring him "not good?"
  16. These are very narrow ranges. I went with 83-86, because I believe that is the most likely outcome. However, the odds strongly favor the win total not falling in that range.
  17. Not sure why this is considered unusual.
  18. I don't know about worse than they are saying but he walked off the mound frustrated after 10 pitches yesterday. He's not going to be ready for OD.
  19. Thanks for all you do for the site, Tony. I was going to start a thread asking about it, because I figured it something wrong with my computer. Will be nice to have a resolution soon.
  20. Vavra has been more consistently good on offense this spring, sure, but spring batting stats certainly aren't the only consideration.
  21. IMO if anybody played like they deserved a starting spot it was Westburg.
