Orioles couldn’t have asked for a better two starts for the DH today.

Have yourself a day Austin Hays! OPS up to .893 after starting day at .816.

I’d rather have McKenna on the team than Nevin. Not even close. Maybe they want to get McKenna every day ABs.
He’s fighting for time with Rizer, Neustrom, Diaz, Jones (getting ABs in lf), and DJ Stewart (barely sniffing time). He hasn’t done particularly well since going down to AAA. It’s all these guys last tryout. Have to start seeing some Guys released from org in the near future.

Extended his streak to 25 games in a row getting on base. (Two nights ago in last at bat with a 3 ball count got an “auto ball” to extend on base streak).
-
Geez. That looked really painful.
-
Time for the redemption walk-off.

Hays all the sudden OPSing .867

What a flippin’ joke

Can’t win close games playing D like this.

Bemboom leading off the 9th inning of a winnable game when we have Rutschman. Adley 1 of 1 with a BB so far today...
I was thinking the same thing.

Lyles had his A game. I’m ok letting him go pith there. Got an out and gave up a bloop. Still looked good against last batter. Let’s go Lopie!

That bloop was extremely cathartic.

Who is the guy in the dug out with the + + mustache?

Yeah, besides his PFP gaff that ultimately cost him a run, he's had a nice outing. He's only at 74 pitches so I imagine he's coming out for the 7th.
Makes the PFP and double play blunder even more frustrating, he’s be under 70 pitches easy and in line for the win. Going 7 or, call me crazy 8, on a double header day would have been massive. Maybe he still can..

I know it’s a hot topic and every time a ball doesn’t go out there will be woulda, coulda, shoulda. I enjoy the bigger field but completely get people who don’t like it. If what just happened to Mountcastle happens dozens of times this year, I imagine I will begin to get frustrated. I’m interested to see how much it really comes into play through course of the season.
If it’s too extreme, it wouldn’t be too difficult, or expensive, to put in a shorter fence about 10’ parallel to the Mountain and make a second field crew area or “on-field” seats. Would be hard &costly to push back further, wonder if they pushed it to the extreme leaving them an opportunity to make an easy adjustment if they needed to.

That is brutal, frustrating, hilarious, sad, unfortunate, and amazing all at the same time.

I think it doinked perfectly in the corner of the pad.

Oh no! Corner ball

Mountcastle swings at pitches that aren’t even close to the strike zone. His hit earlier in game was on a ball a foot outside.
-
I don’t understand how Lyles doesn’t get an error there. If he doesn’t make a mistake the guy is out. How is that different from flat out dropping the ball? That inning was so ridiculous. Very lackadaisical all around.
-
Mountcastle can’t let that happen in that situation (or ever). What a terrible throw.
-
Just stole his 3rd base of game. Another massive jump. Heck of a game going on between Bowie and Harrisburg. 1-0 pitchers duel nail biter. Stallings throwing a no no.
-
This kid is impressive. Looks incredibly comfortable at the plate against a tough lefty today. With his hit today he has reached base in all 24 games this year for the Baysox. And then steals his 8th bag of year standing up. I’ve been equally impressed with his foot speed.
In next AB lines a single up middle and then steals second base of the game(9th on season). 6th multi hit game on the season. I don’t remember hearing much about his run game. He’s getting massive jumps.

Game 2 of doubleheader: Zimmermann takes the mound as O's go for split

Both don’t bring much. It’s just a polite audition at this point. Neustrom and Diaz will get their shot at some point as well. Something has got to give, there aren’t enough ABs to go around. IMO neither McKenna nor Nevin bring much to the table. McKenna is fast yes, but doesn’t do anything else well.
