I think GRod was always the 1-2. No disrespect to Bradish but the ceiling for GRod is just higher. The stuff is just better.
His ceiling is insane. If KB can keep up

Missed more bats than Burnes did.
The change up was untouchable.
Could end up being the best 1-2 punch in the league.
His stuff is gnarly. Needs to discard then non-effective pitch (today slider) earlier in game.

Gunnar didn't come across as bothered by it during the post game interview.
Of course he didn’t. He, himself elected to not go for a cycle last year. The kid is a freak show competitor, win at all cost, to the bone. Gunnar is him (as the kids say).

At least we get him out of the way early in the season. I don’t see it with him and I don’t get what others see.
He’s the million dollar arm 2 cent brain prototype. It’s in there. Not sure we will ever see it.
I’ll never forget the first time I saw him pitch in Norfolk. Warm up before innings he looked like Nolan Ryan. The cheese is legit…..
then the inning started. Laser after laser. Didn’t understand.
Next time I saw him in Norfolk. Rinse repeat.

I guess they want to learn the hard way that D.L. Hall isn't a starting pitcher.
You, me, and the next guy think that’s likely the role. I’m pretty stoked the kid is getting a chance. Easy guy to pull for. I’m go Hall!

It would be cool to see Mountcastle have his breakout season. While he's probably never going to a high OBP hitter if Mountcastle can be selective enough at the plate he's going to be a problem for opposing pitchers.
Besides maybe Gunnar, Mountcastle hits the ball as hard as any hitter on the team when he barrels up a ball.
Thats right. I’m not looking for him to be high OBP. Just take his non competitive ABs and make them productive. With his power that would be massive.

I saw one ugly old school Mounty chase swing tonight, but it looked like he kicked his own ass into gear and got right. 1BB and no Ks. Lotta balls hit hard. Mounty will be the X factor this year. If he takes the next step our 1 & 2 batters get more ABs.

He is going to be a Devers style thirdbase. Great bat and horrible glove and throws.
Nah. Kids got make-up through the roof. He’ll be fine.

If only they had signed him to that 10 year deal when he was in A ball.
But then he wouldn’t be playing as hard

75 pitches. Would like to see him out for the 6th.
Would also like us to score some runs.
Would also like to not see our BP.

Everything is getting hit hard when he throws that slider. It's not a good pitch today.

Man, I sure thought he was. I stand corrected.

Grayson, you gotta get the fastball up more there.
He’s been missing spots. But all in the zone. The stuff is nasty or he’d be getting peppered.

Grayson os working fast. I'd like for him to control the intervals between his pitches more to kepe the batters uncomfortable.
As Marcus Stroman says, don’t be a good dance partner.
