Kinda surprised but not disappointed. I hope they’re able to trade him for something
-
McCann is fine. Not sure who you would trade for to upgrade. It’s not like there’s a lot of hard hitting backup C. There’s a reason someone is a backup C. I do like that McCann has given Adley more rest this year. Probably a little more than I prefer.

I have to wonder if Hays told them it was better than it was so he could get back to the majors and out of the minor league rehab. I'm not saying he did so, just makes me wonder.
Yeah this was my thoughts. I could see someone who started out terribly, and was getting lapped by a younger guy, say whatever he needed to say to return. Maybe that’s not what happened, maybe I’m just cynical.

In the presser Hyde said that they thought the calf was good to go. So they activated him, then the next day he felt some discomfort again. Pretty odd / frustrating.
I find that hard to believe.

It does seem like they’re purposely taking a different approach this year. My hope is they want to stress to players there’s a time to be aggressive and a time to be selective. This should help players find their appropriate balance as they progress and as we get into the postseason. With young players, maybe if you start them off under a directive of how to approach pitchers they learn how to do it on their own.

Whose brilliant idea was it to bring back a guy who started out 2-27 while he was still hurt?

We got swept in the playoffs, when it mattered most. I wish people would let this go.

I’d say Cano is exceeding and Santander is below expectations.

I expected this from Westburg. I didn’t expect Gunnar to look like the MVP yet though.

Looks like the poll is closed now but if vote in the .700-.749 range, provided Hyde doesn’t over expose him to RHP.

Nice slide Cowser. Don’t ever fucking do it again

I like Adley’s approach so far this year. If he’s always working the count and looking for walks, pitchers will take advantage. You have to show something different and he’s showing he’s also got a hit tool.
What’s funny is the difference between his AVG and OBP is 37 points. Mountcastle is at 48 and Mateo is at 60.

I’d guess Kjerstad. He’s optionable and is getting little playing time anyway.
Yep I don’t see them sending down McKenna. He serves more of a purpose than Kjerstad.

Westy of course.

I mean the best pitcher will be the best closer. So, I picked Burnes. But I think Bradish sees the biggest improvement in moving to the role.
-
I’ve seen enough. If anyone is interested after he’s DFA, maybe we could work out a trade. Either way, he provides no value to this team.

Good job by Hyde to yank Kimbrel. He needs to find the Ubaldo pothole.

That was excellent. Typical John Means in keeping hitters guessing between the change and fastball. Mixed in enough curves to give hitters a third look. Threw a beauty of a cutter to Elly.
-
Does Suarez follow him?
-
Sounds like Cano needs to take grounders at SS.
-
What the hell is wrong with you? Nobody is trading a guy dominating AAA for a guy with zero control who had one good year.

With the day game coming on Thursday, you would think he plays in one of the 2 games.
I’d think you could give Adley a day off tomorrow and let Kjerstad DH.

What options? Means is added and Ramirez is DFA. The question will be what to do when Bradish is added. I’d DFA Baumann, but Elias is annoyingly attached to him.
Also, I wouldn’t mess with the rotation for Means. Put him in the bullpen. For Bradish, put Suarez in the bullpen.
If you were looking to extend Burnes, what would be the max contract offer?

That would be about where I’d draw the line.
