    He looked like he was on his way to a great night before that one blown strike call. Maybe it got in his head? Either way, his stuff is legit. He'll have some ups and downs as he acclimates. Still hopeful he will work out long-term and be a major contributor.

    That could be what happened. I dunno. I guess it depends on the Umpire, but I've never really bought into how much a catcher's framing really affects the outcome. But this particular pitch, the glove was in the zone to begin with. So where did the ump see it outside?

    Stick an opener in the first and let Akin be a bulk guy. Build up his innings and he can be equally as effective as a good starter. The question is, how many times can he get through a lineup before things fall apart?
