  1. The fact that he has only made 12 ML appearances . The fact that he has shown me he can command a fastball for the most part . People forget that he’s never played a full season in the majors yet . . Very small sample size . Scott has been up with the team since 2018. And I will say he has improved this year and I wouldn’t just give him away. But it’s almost at that point where you have to make tough evaluations .
  2. I said this at the trade deadline but I’ll say it again - everyone in the bullpen but Harvey at this point should be expendable . Also as I said before I am not sold on Scott . If he could get us a future piece I would not hesitate in dealing him . Scott could not establish the inside part of the plate in the Torres at bat . That is nothing else but commanding the baseball. When you can’t command the baseball against the Yankees you will fall behind . When you fall behind against al East teams you will get hit . It’s really that simple . Doesn’t matter if you throw 94 or 85. See valdez’s outing yesterday .
  3. With the exception of maybe mason Williams just about everyone that has been reassigned at the alternate site at Bowie and then brought back up to Baltimore has improved their performance Cedric Mullins , DJ Stewart have been noticeably better . And those that made their major league debuts - Mountcastle , Akin , and now Kramer looked ready to contribute when they were called up. I know it’s a small sample size but I feel like now when those that guys are called to contribute they are able to and that the pitchers have somewhat of plan of what they want to do and don’t look like deers in headlights at mlb competition . In other words they are much better prepared to contribute to the ML team . just my observations - thoughts?
  4. If you look at the body of wiggington’s work he did not perform like an all star every year but he had a solid career while playing multiple positions . That would be Vailaka if he can’t hold down one position .
  5. I think with regular playing time at worst I think he could be like ty wiggington was. I’d like to think given regular at bats and playing time at one position he could be better than that . Never know until you give him the opportunity . I think he could definitely hit above the Mendoza line which Rio is not doing currently ( or just above it ).
  6. I think you stick with Vailaka ‘s bat the rest of the season . I’d like to see him get some regular playing time at 3b. With Ruiz struggling I’d play both until Alberto comes back . See what you have . Sample size would be smaller but I like what I have seen from Vailaka so far . If he could put up .260-.270 15 hr .330 Obp ..750 OPS while playing solid defense Os may have hit on something . Getting him reg at bats at one position might just be what he needs to take off
  7. He was really good last night . Struck out 2 out of the 3 batters he faced. All he needs to do is stay healthy which so far has been a tall order for him . Electric arm .
  8. Good job givens - way to enhance your trade value .
  9. Too many base runners for Scott tonight . I am not completely sold on his performance yet
  10. I’d throw in another reliever - their choice with the exception of Harvey - if that’s a Sticking point .
  11. Right after this I looked up his profile and saw that he just signed an extension with them so scratch that idea . But if I am the Os that’s the kind of player I’d be looking for - a top of the order hitter not as established with superior on base skills . I’d be nice to have someone on frequently in the future when Santander , Mancini Rutschman , Mountcastle and Kjerstad are hitting
  12. We saw last night that tampa lost another reliever last night to injury so I would be curious if tampa would do this trade with us : Tampa gets : Givens and Hanser Alberto Orioles get : Brandon Lowe and a lower level pitching prospect . Tampa would get a set up man and a bullpen piece that would could perform multiple roles and a hitter in Alberto that could step in at second and third with the loss of Lowe Orioles get a top of the order hitter with a good on base percentage that would help the offense now and in the future as well as a local guy from Suffolk Va who went to University of Maryland . would we be giving up too much ? Would Tampa even do it ? Those would be the issues .
  13. Those I’d like to see traded 1- Givens - this one should be a no brainer. He’s pitching well and there is a robust market for relief pitching . Does anyone think we could get a top 10-12 prospect back ? 2- Cobb - this one it would depend on the return . I would trade I just don’t know who else would pitch in place of him . LeBlanc is hurt and Means is just getting back . We have to have someone pitch . But If return is good I’d be inclined to move him . And the team that got would have for another year. 3- Alberto - depending on the return again . I think Vailaka could handle 2b for a month
  14. I’d focus on middle infield prospects . I am not sold yet on Alberto and Iglesias may gone if his option is not picked up. I’d like to see what Vailaka can do with increased playing time .
  15. I think now is the right time to trade him . He is a free agent in 2022. This means that the team that receives him will have control through this year and 2021. Let’s not make the mistake we did with Britton and wait . Andy Mcphail’s words - better to trade a year too early than a year too late . Numbers are strong so far this year . Now’s the time . Not sure what we could get but I would think relievers would be in demand especially in this shortened season when maybe starters are not as stretched out to carry a larger workload .
  16. Two words - trade bait . And I think we could get something valuable if they trade him
