  1. Markakis OPS by season (since going to ATL) 2015: .746 2016: .744 2017: .747 (so far) I'm not really sure he could be more consistent if he tried. He is on pace for a (roughly) 1 WAR season.......not amazing but not that bad either.
  2. Pretty sure that request will be denied, just fyi. Tony is quite clear about what topics can and can't be discussed on here. There are plenty of places you can go to discuss politics.........just not here.
  3. Today I learned that Brian Matusz has a World Series ring. I have no words.
  4. Craziness I know. A lot of the names are the same, they're just pitching much worse. Makes you wonder what's going on.
  5. Also note that Keuchel will be starting Tuesday's WC game on short (3 days) rest.
  6. Wonder if the Braves would sell.
  7. So this is kinda depressing. De Aza with the BoSox this year: .317/.364/.610/.973 in 27 games. I imagine they're using him as strictly a platoon OF (his splits are incredibly dramatic this year) but still.
  8. We should definitely have a few more threads on this. Anyone know who the PTBNL in the Chad Bradford trade ended up being btw?
  9. You've gotta still respect the OBP weams. That's always valuable. Even with his decreasing power, he was good for roughly 2 offensive WAR last year, good for top 5 on the team. Trying to make a serious argument that he was the 10th best hitter makes you look like you have an agenda against him imo. Not sure if you were really saying that or not.
  10. 2/16 overall this spring. Will be mildly interesting to see how much Nick we see during those 3 consecutive games against the Braves we get to end Spring Training. Wonder why they do that.........maybe teams don't want to face division opponents?
  11. That has to be some kind of major league record, right?
  12. I noticed, because Jake is on my fantasy team. :cussing: I wouldn't read a ton into it because it was on the road at Colorado where the baseball behaves differently in the air. If he has another stinker next time out though.......i think that will be deserving of attention.

The Yankees retired #8 twice. And they also have a few non-HOF's there. I think I kind of prefer the Orioles method. Although I think it's kind of weird they have a few 'unofficial retired' numbers.......I wonder if that will go on indefinitely.
  14. It's games.......so yes he could satisfy 2 if he misses the doubleheader.
  15. Seems likely that he'll miss all or most of the Tampa Bay series, and potentially tonight as well.
  16. I took it to mean the team has a whole 'overperformed.' As in, exceeded Pythagorean expectations, run differential, etc.
  17. That's a pretty easy way to make some money eh.
  18. Great point Hank. Here's some cherry picking stats to munch on: April: 4.03 starter ERA was 9th in the AL 5.61 IP/start was 12th in the AL 60% QS rate is 4th in the AL 5.20 bullpen ERA was 13th in the AL May: 4.14 starter ERA is 11th in the AL 5.73 IP/start is 13th in the AL 4.88 bullpen ERA is 12th in the AL June: 5.54 starter ERA was 12th in the AL 5.27 IP/start 2.96 bullpen ERA What stands out to me is that our bullpen is apparently improving each month. Now, it may just be addition by subtraction (losing guys like Rupe, Accardo, and having guys like Berken and Gonzo start to actually figure it out) but it's at least a promising sign of something. What's killing us though (obviously) is the starting pitching. I really don't see what we can do about it at this point though. Anyone see Duchscherer lately?
