  1. Yea the Chris Davis contract, as awful as it looks, is already baked into the cake at this point. That's a fair point about trading Britton / Machado. I would've liked for us to move both of them for nice returns. Manny may yet get moved before the deadline........I guess? If Britton comes back from his rehab and looks at least close to his 2016 self then I suppose that's a possibility too but I'm not gonna get my hopes up.
  2. Seems to me they're 100% doing it the right way (so far). How can you cut payroll more effectively than not signing anyone to a major league contract?
  3. Well we know the Yankees and Dodgers are doing it.............so why can't we? ....... ....... .......
  4. Correa and Bregman were #2 and #6 on the Astros in WAR this season. So I think they were pretty significant contributors. Sounds like they made good decisions all around. Just read that Altuve was signed at 17 from Venezuela. That's pretty crazy to see where he is now. Seems like it's def better to be lucky than good at times.
  5. 3-0 since coming to the Baysox. Underlying numbers aren't that great though so far. 4.58 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, 10 BB and 16 K in 19.2 IP.
  6. The Cleveland Native Americans.
  7. And they lose 2-1. Talk about a gut punch. The Nationals may be the worst super team in the league.
  8. Nationals now trail going to the 9th inning. Poor Scherzer.
  9. Markakis OPS by season (since going to ATL) 2015: .746 2016: .744 2017: .747 (so far) I'm not really sure he could be more consistent if he tried. He is on pace for a (roughly) 1 WAR season.......not amazing but not that bad either.
  10. Pretty sure that request will be denied, just fyi. Tony is quite clear about what topics can and can't be discussed on here. There are plenty of places you can go to discuss politics.........just not here.
  11. Today I learned that Brian Matusz has a World Series ring. I have no words.
  12. Craziness I know. A lot of the names are the same, they're just pitching much worse. Makes you wonder what's going on.
  13. Also note that Keuchel will be starting Tuesday's WC game on short (3 days) rest.
  14. Wonder if the Braves would sell.
  15. So this is kinda depressing. De Aza with the BoSox this year: .317/.364/.610/.973 in 27 games. I imagine they're using him as strictly a platoon OF (his splits are incredibly dramatic this year) but still.
  16. We should definitely have a few more threads on this. Anyone know who the PTBNL in the Chad Bradford trade ended up being btw?
  17. You've gotta still respect the OBP weams. That's always valuable. Even with his decreasing power, he was good for roughly 2 offensive WAR last year, good for top 5 on the team. Trying to make a serious argument that he was the 10th best hitter makes you look like you have an agenda against him imo. Not sure if you were really saying that or not.
  18. 2/16 overall this spring. Will be mildly interesting to see how much Nick we see during those 3 consecutive games against the Braves we get to end Spring Training. Wonder why they do that.........maybe teams don't want to face division opponents?
  19. That has to be some kind of major league record, right?
  20. I noticed, because Jake is on my fantasy team. :cussing: I wouldn't read a ton into it because it was on the road at Colorado where the baseball behaves differently in the air. If he has another stinker next time out though.......i think that will be deserving of attention.

    Boog Powell

The Yankees retired #8 twice. And they also have a few non-HOF's there. I think I kind of prefer the Orioles method. Although I think it's kind of weird they have a few 'unofficial retired' numbers.......I wonder if that will go on indefinitely.
  22. It's games.......so yes he could satisfy 2 if he misses the doubleheader.
  23. Seems likely that he'll miss all or most of the Tampa Bay series, and potentially tonight as well.
  24. I took it to mean the team has a whole 'overperformed.' As in, exceeded Pythagorean expectations, run differential, etc.
