My first instinct is he's getting more improper calls against him because most players swing at those pitches so the umps don't have to make a decision on them. I would think that a Adley or Gunnar would get a lot more balls called strikes against them than someone like Mountcastle.

Exactly instead of five years they can get a guy for one or two years and perhaps get the other team to pay down the contract.
