  1. I'm sure they are pretty pleased to have you jump to their defense but I don't think I was making them out to be an idiot. In point of fact I had to go back and check a third time to even figure out what you were talking about. I was way snarkier to other people in this thread.
  2. I have no idea. I'm not sure money is that high on his list of priorities. He left money on the table to go to the Angels and I could see him signing a deal with a team for less than he could make.
  3. I just double checked. I never responded to the OP in this thread. So I have no idea what you are talking about.
  4. No, that's framing an argument. Like saying "Good managing. Simple as that. ".
  5. And? I'm just saying they shouldn't get a ton of credit for eventually putting him on the program that helped him recover his velocity. It's good that they eventually figured it out but he shouldn't have been pitching in the majors earlier this season.
  6. Is it worse then they finally got it right, they are so smart?
  7. Who doesn't think that? It's a quick, really simple tool. No one should be super concerned about it. Every year you have teams that over and under achieve their Pythag by significant degrees.
  8. Just because I post a piece of music does not mean I necessarily like that piece of music. Amused To Death has some good songs, I don't think Too Much Rope is one of them.
  9. I think it's NSFW, haven't listened to it in years.
  10. To dismiss the issue as it's the manager stupid is underthinking the issue.
  11. The meme about the toe aside, Mark Reynolds was not an adroit fielder at first.
  12. So it's good managing when say, a ball bounces out of bounds for a ground rule double stopping the runner on first from scoring? Luck is part of baseball. Simple as that.
  13. It isn't have a good record in one run games. It's having a significantly higher winning percentage in one run games compared to other games. If a .600 team wins .605 in one run games that's not luck. If a .500 team does, than yea, it's probably luck. If the Padres win at a .495 clip and are 6-18 in one runs games, it's fair to say they've been unlucky.
  14. Sure, they adjusted well. But to me the miscalculation at the onset counteracts any credit for the adjustment. It ideally should have been handled better from the start.
  15. I don't get the mindset of using a roster spot in such a way that the entire team is weakened 98% of the time just in case a 2% edge case comes up in which that move might prove helpful. I can see it now, the stars align, the O's are at home, tied game in the 10, Mateo pinch runs for Frazier, he gets ready to steal third...and the leadoff hitter hits a dong.
  16. Developed a highly regarded prospected that they inherited into an asset on the ML roster by now? Managed his recovery from injury better? It kinda seems like they were throwing stuff on the wall to see what stuck. Why didn't they have him lift more earlier in the season instead of sending him out there with reduced velocity?
  17. The main job of any hitter is to not make outs. Mateo has a OBP of 260. His career OBP is 268.
  18. Kinda of? Even if the O's are at home pinch running Mateo isn't an I win button. You have to be prepared to continue playing. Are you going to pinch run for Adley? Gunnar?
  19. The thing is, you are going to keep Mateo on the roster just in case you need him to pinch run for the ghost runner if a game goes into extra innings.
  20. It's August and he's just now throwing proper competitive innings. Not sure I'd be lauding the job they've done with Hall.
  21. They had a really good stretch with guys not getting hurt at one point. I think it's pretty random.
  22. Oh sorry. Once again playing BGIII and just following along the game thread.
  23. The falling out was over his problems with drugs. Sad story, died of AIDS, probably from an infected needle.
