Who doesn't think that? It's a quick, really simple tool. No one should be super concerned about it. Every year you have teams that over and under achieve their Pythag by significant degrees.

It isn't have a good record in one run games. It's having a significantly higher winning percentage in one run games compared to other games. If a .600 team wins .605 in one run games that's not luck. If a .500 team does, than yea, it's probably luck. If the Padres win at a .495 clip and are 6-18 in one runs games, it's fair to say they've been unlucky.

Sure, they adjusted well. But to me the miscalculation at the onset counteracts any credit for the adjustment. It ideally should have been handled better from the start.

The thing is, you are going to keep Mateo on the roster just in case you need him to pinch run for the ghost runner if a game goes into extra innings.
