  1. Someone that very much wants to work in the field. Can he get another gig if he leaves? Can he afford to leave? I'm sure he'll be looking for a way out if he does come back but he might have to tough out the season.
  2. He's got the leeway and yet hasn't felt a need to use it....
  3. It requires a 75% vote from the 30 owners to move a team. Maybe if John was an actual lawyer he could think of a way out of that fact.
  4. He can't just move the team. The other owners won't let him.
  5. Had to get really bad for the owners to force Frank McCourt to sell.
  6. I could see Peter pulling a trick like this so I don't see why John wouldn't.
  7. Cool. All the positive press attention was getting kinda cloying.
  8. Can you just open it up in a different browser and redo it? Just to see the proper score.
  9. just brutal https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fofwsblxn9pgb1.jpg
  10. It's not a real high bar so sure. He'll make a nice speech.
  11. Is there tho? I don't think it comes up as often as you do. Keep in mind not only do you need a stolen base you need to have a situation in which you can replace the baserunner with Mateo and not hurt your chances more than the value of the stolen base. You aren't going to run for Adley in the third for instance.
  12. It's pretty amazing how poorly those dynasty Oriole teams drew.
  13. Don't forget the part where someone else jumps in to support the person I'm disagreeing with and when I'm shown to be right are strangely silent. Who would have thought there would have been a good reason I didn't accept somebody timing a run off of a highlight clip?
  14. Exactly, potentially. It's easy to come up with scenarios in which having him on the team saves the day but how likely is that to happen? Is it worth the cost of having him on the roster?
  15. You could find out how pro worker John really is.
  16. Wow, that would have been the fastest time in the Statcast era. Elly's 10.83 (fastest of the season, second fastest since 2020) https://bdata-producedclips.mlb.com/6807eae6-df47-4f38-85f4-e5ce2dbabcf6.mp4
  17. Oh, I thought you had actual Statcast data. NM.
  18. I know what the OP is saying and I agree with it. I'm curious where the 11 seconds came from because it doesn't seem realistic given the De La Cruz time earlier in the season. Mateo is very fast but Elly is even faster.
  19. Can you show me where you got that from? Elly De La Cruz had the second fastest time to third since 2020 earlier this season and he came in at 10.83. If Mateo managed an 11.00 when he didn't even get out the box well and "eased up" that would be amazing.
  20. I don't think any (major) team does it from scratch. They need to hold their vendor responsible.
  21. He's also on the most successful team, which won't hurt.
  22. He played more games at 3B than any other position so yea, he was a third baseman.
