I don't actually think they can have Ohtani in the off-season if they want.
They can have Ohtani if Ohtani wants.
After the way he joined the league I can see him taking less money to play where he wants to play.
I also wasn't being serious about taking on that bad contract. But if someone would...that would be pretty valuable.
There are far fewer examples of any players that come up and ever rake or pitch very well. I'm not at all certain everyone on your list will qualify in that regard.
The Braves have had a couple guys come up and play well out of the gate.
Every player is different and we shouldn't look at Gunnar and assume Jordan will follow his path. He'll have his own path.
It just seems to me that folks are using Gunnar's transition period as an excuse to support the team's reticence to promote players.
He's more likely to have the higher WAR total at the end of his career.
If you are looking at the six years of team control (which to me is the sensible route) I'd go with Adley.
The one pitch was the four seam fastball.
It's not like he had issues with sliders.
I'm sure that fact that he turned down 2 million from Boston the year before was a factor, as was the simple fact he was a year older.
Right now Yoshida is the odds on favorite. Gunnar can run him down.
Actually if someone can get Gunnar at +2500 I'd consider it.
