  1. He’s not terribly far off from where Britton was is K/9 over his 3 good years here, or Mariano Rivera’s career average. Sure it would be great if K/9 were in the teens somewhere, but he does get a good number of ground balls. FTR, I don’t love Cano there either, I’d be interested to see Suarez closing.
  2. Impossible to get excited on any given play listening to Melanie. She does such an insanely bad job of leading the listeners into the action. I thought that last pop up was going to be a foul ball out of play they way she called it, then she just starts yelling that Cowser has caught it.
  3. You can make a bad decision that isn’t stupid. And either way, it’s not objectively a bad decision. It was a move that won the game, using a guy that hadn’t pitched in 4 days (Cano), had pitched once in 4 days (Coulombe) and hadn’t pitched in 5 days (Kimbrel). Not like it’s a group that pitched every game in the last series. Im sure the goal today would be to not use Coulombe and then only use Kimbrel once more this series. Remember Monday is an off day.
  4. I believe Means is starting today. Was swapped in for Suarez.
  5. His Speech Above Expectation (SAE) value could be off the charts though. Who knows, maybe he’s been holding it all in for this. Just hope he doesn’t pull a BJ Surhoff and show up in a t shirt.
  6. They do let you bring in food. I go to enough games on a membership plan that it’s not worth buying inside and I always bring a big hoagie or something.
  7. I just think the Boogs sandwiches are bad. I used to enjoy them so I’m not sure if I’ve started going to better pit beef places or if they’ve gotten worse. That said, I typically judge a BBQ place by the quality of their sides, Boog’s beans are an insult to baked beans, especially at that price.
  8. Love the 6:30 start during the week, love the ~4PM on Saturdays. Weekdays I really enjoy listening to the first few innings making/cleaning up from dinner, bathing the kids etc. Can follow the game well enough and then sitting down to watch the remainder of the game is a little more of a treat.
  9. Tuna out of the can and microwaves asparagus
  10. I guess would you prefer the in depth explanation or Kevin Brown’s emphasis and pause for applause. That could have been a KB joke for sure.
  11. I think he’s just soft spoken. Actually gives a decent interview. No Trey Mancini tho, that guy gave the best non-canned answers I can remember.
  12. Target was at the knees. For Judge that’s missing by like 1.5 feet
  13. I don’t understand your distinction. Kimbrel clearly had an issue, they came out to check on him. He wasn’t right his previous appearance. The coach has to decide if someone is ok.
  14. The funny this is that weightlifter guy knows who he is. DB thinks he’s bringing value.
  15. There’s a great Mike Tomlin video about it being the coaches responsibility to determine this. The player is almost always going to tell you they’re fine. PS it’s ok to hate the Steelers and respect them
  16. How would a middle reliever have helped today? Perez is out. Two starters are out. You don’t win the World Series in April.
  17. Read my above post. Needing bullpen help is different than trading for it.
  18. Fine, they needed another arm. You recommend trading a major league caliber infielder (assuming that is the surplus) for a reliever which has the most YOY volatility in the sport? Is that the idea?
  19. This is a pretty shallow and short sighted take
  20. Thought it a little weird that the “players of the game” at the stadium were Adley and Mountcastle. Irvin was a shoo in and how often will he get the honor and a quick interview for the fans?
  21. He’s your least favorite of all time? Do you remember Pedro Severino?
  22. Can someone please get rid of this guy? Hasn’t he violated some rules or something? Not sure I remember another poster making this board this unenjoyable.
  23. There’s an element of Joe Buck to him, sure, but I don’t think that’s entirely fair, especially as a negative. He’s a much goofier guy, and in that respect less polished. I’ve never felt like I know who Buck is, but Kevin I’ve got a pretty good idea.
  24. Just for fun, what if he comes up and hits, who goes down when Hays is ready? What if Holliday has turned it around by then, too?
  25. Not that it matters but I have him at 2-21 with 12K’s prior to 4/21 at 11AM when the tweet was tweeted. Yankees can’t love the knowledge that their 6’7” $360M man has a toe that is going to require constant maintenance and treatment the rest of his career. Sure wish he had been on a different team and I could root for him.
