  1. I’m not sure that’s necessarily true. Mateo and Urias were both retained and Frazier added this year with Henderson clearly ready and Westburg and Ortiz in the wings.
  2. Using Cano where he did worked out as well. Brach and KB were wondering if that was a planned move for the top of the lineup.
  3. Irvin was great, but let’s not get it twisted, by no means did he take down Kirby. But that’s one of the things that makes baseball so great. I wanna shout out the home plate ump, he was remarkably consistent all night, only missed a few calls and they seemed to go against the M’s!
  4. FS1 announcers were very casual about that Mateo play.
  5. They really have t been brutal, they’ve been taking and fouling off pitches.
  6. Looks we’re firmly middle of the pack in strikeouts, 18th in the MLB. Nice change from the last nearly 10 years
  7. It's a great stadium but you're right, that's ugly. They do have a $2.5 billion development project for that area coming called the "Diamond District" with a new stadium set to open by 2025.
  8. You act as if we don’t have the second most comeback wins in the league. Our guys are tested and have been great in big games.
  9. Right, our hitters don’t do that, just a bunch of lucky yahoos. get a grip, man.
  10. I don’t have a problem playing him there early, he’s looked ok out there. But not in the 9th inning with a few better options on the bench!
  11. Good point, they’ve been hiding Bautista all season, only letting him pitch against the bad ones.
  12. To be fair I’m not 100% sure that’s unique to this scenario. It seems like they do that a lot on the radio feed
  13. Yes, thank you, I was being sarcastic.
  14. No, we lose it. Should’ve just kept him down. Imagine we’ll only have 5 years left after this.
  15. I think Hollander is absolutely perfect for the radio. Sure he’s not as good as the recent old timers (Scully, Angel, Miller), but he is just the right amount of homer and is very entertaining. Also he’s just good at going back and explaining a play after it happened, a lot of people just kinda move on.
  16. I don’t think it’s fair to say the O’s “lost” the trade deadline, when they didn’t go out and make the team worse. Also, while Texas is busy, it isn’t clear they are going to be better moving forward. The only way to “lose” the deadline is go out and clearly overpay for marginal upgrades a la the Gerardo Parra trade.
  17. I believe Elias said they couldn’t shut any of the pitchers down during a pennant chase, assuming that comment extends to Grayson.
  18. It doesn’t seem to me that you see guys with multiple years left being moved at the trade deadline. Elias knows, I’m sure, that he needs to acquire quality starting pitching, but he isn’t going to be suckered into a bad trade. It doesn’t mean he won’t part with high end prospects to get it, just that what was out there wasn’t worth it right now.
  19. Best point you’ve made on the topic.
  20. He took 4 steps after the ball landed to get to it. It's not like he was right there. Expected batting average isn't perfect here of course--Cowser was deeper than average, and though the exit velocity wasn't too impressive it was cued off the end of the bat and tailing away. I think you're making way too much out of this play.
  21. You should go watch that hit again, it isn't anything close to what you're describing. It is in a video highlighting Judge's 3 hits on mlb.com.
  22. I appreciated what Brach brought to the table tonight. His best moments were talking about his time here, or quick mentions about the journey of a player. That's a good way to get his feet wet IMO. Seemed like he was loose towards the end. I have spent the last couple years avoiding JLC, shame I'm going to have to do that when it comes to O's games now too.
  23. You could try being a bit less adversarial in every single one of your post replies. Experience is obviously not a skill, don’t be daft. Frazier has been in the league for 8 seasons and has undoubtedly learned a thing or two. I’m sure the young middle infielders have picked up some knowledge from him, even if it’s just how to pack for road trips. In addition, I think he’s an adequate defender at both second and COF and positional versatility is good, even if you aren’t a gold glover out there. Frazier also gets on base at a pretty good clip and seems to be a bit unlucky so far this year. I’m not picking on Mountcastle, I love the guys personality and have expected him to turn some kind of corner the last few years. But the K’s haven’t gotten better, the walks have gotten worse and I’m not certain his “feel” for first base has really improved (getting over to tough foul balls for instance). And again, the biggest thing is just that he didn’t HAVE to come back up. You may have missed that point when you creamed your jeans at the opportunity to attack someone. His replacement was still playing well and 2 other guys had also shown themselves capable of handling first. RMC has plenty of time to get on fire in Norfolk while the rest of the PT sorts itself out.
  24. I’d put Frazier and RMC on roughly the same level, but I do value Frazier’s experience. The bigger point is that Mountcastle can be optioned between the two.
  25. Recalling Mountcastle was so frustrating, forced an issue earlier than it needed to be solved. He’s probably got the most limited skill set of anyone on the team. Can you send him back down at this point and not ruin his confidence or buy in?
