  1. Bunch of people dumping on BJ. I’d rather have former O’s than not. Getting rid of a guy that has spent 15+ years with the .org is different than firing a random scout.

Would love for Elias to succeed. Would esp love him to succeed trying to keep old O’s involved as much as possible.

Looking at Hays’ Statcast stats, he is one for two in four-star catch opportunities, so I assume last night’s play is the four-star catch he’s made.   A four-star catch is defined as a play where the odds of the ball being caught are between 26-50%.     Five star catches are made 0-25% of the time.   Hays is 0-2 on those.    He’s 100% on 1-3 star catches.    I think the four-star catch he missed was the one where he got a late break coming in on the ball, made a headlong dive, and actually gloved it a few inches off the ground but the impact of hitting the ground jarred it loose.

Those are really cool stats, I should check in with stat cast more.

We are not going to change his mind.   It’s subjective.   He doesn’t like it.    The fact that he may be in the minority doesn’t mean he now has to like it.

I’m fine with him not liking it. It’s a little frustrating to have someone repeatedly and deliberately misinterpret others viewpoints.

Yes, celebrate every play with that mentality. It will surely speed up the game.

Literally no one is saying celebrate every play. It’s confusing how you jump from celebrating a great catch saving a run to celebrate every play.

My takeaway is celebrate every play, every catch, every homerun, every win, every loss, every stolen base, every walk. Every intentional walk. Let's start celebrating every strike, why not?

That’s a weird extrapolation from celebrating perhaps the most important defensive play in the game. By a young player.

  6. Herb pretty ineffective. Ok fastball and show me curveball but they were on him and gave up 3 runs in the second.

Tayler Scott gave up a homer to his first batter followed by a couple strikeouts. Slider (maybe?) was effective down and in to lefties.

Very little horizontal movement, but it has really good spin for its velocity (faster the fastball, the more spin generally), so it doesn’t drop as much as you’d expect it to, that’s why it plays up in the zone better than down.

Baseball is a pretty cool game. So many different ways to get the job done.

Me too, it isn't like he needs the work.  The biggest thing preventing him from being a sure-fire MLB starter is that his fastball sits at 90 MPH, and that is something that throwing additional innings isn't going to help. I don't see how he would really benefit from additional innings. I guess it will be nice to see whether his curveball looks as good against more advanced hitters, but I would be fine waiting until next season for that. I would rather see him in a strength program and see if he can add 1-2 MPH to his fastball.

92 would really do wonders. Crazy what 1-2 up will do.

I know he is a control guy but does he get good fastball movement?

Bad defense is one thing.  Sauntering off the pitcher's mound after a passed ball while two runners come in to score is another.  Bundy's tantrum last night is one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen in an MLB game.  I wouldn't mind one bit if the Orioles released him today.

Good lord. Guess you’ve never been in a situation where stuff snowballs and you make a mistake out of frustration. You could use a little perspective. And that definitely wasn’t “sauntering.”

Also, I didn’t read Bundy not covering as a tantrum, I think he started walking off then spaced on the second guy.

I think that was at the old Greyhound station at Howard and Fayette. They moved to Haines in 2016 with a federal grant to a former sex toy mail catalog shop.Much nicer and cleaner building.

So it might not have been the same building, unclear on that but more or less the same location.

Game Bar has a shuttle to the Oriole gamee back and forth for $20.00.Includes two hour open bar and one free drink on way home after the game. Not sure what they will do next year. You are taking Greyhound?

I spent a miserably restless night in that Greyhound station back in 2012 after one of the ALDS games. Lot of interesting characters come and go in there.

Thanks for the info. I've always driven to Hunt Valley and used light rail from there. My night driving lately has been limited so bus service come next season seemed like a good option. I'll probably try the bus and just use a taxi, uber, or lyft to and from the bus station until I feel more comfortable walking. Thanks again to everyone - sincerely appreciated.

I’m not sure if there’s a sidewalk on the Russell St overpass...otherwise walking straight down Russell from Camden and turning on Haines isn’t bad at all. Well travelled and well lit.

  13. As far as the logjam of COF/1B/DH I wonder if Núñez will have any trade value this offseason. I like him and he is young but seems to be the odd man out. Would be interested in RP prospects but not sure as to the quality in return.

  14. Something that speaks a little bit to me is that it seemed like the other players were very much on Bleier’s side. Not just Armstrong but it looked like Bundy and Wilkerson came over and it wasn’t a let’s hold this psycho Davis back situation.

    Flores got to go, IMO.

I agree. Can’t have coaches breaking during a tough season.

Different from the Davis situation in that Hyde removed himself and Davis went after him.
