  1. I think pitching will get rotated through a bit. Lowther should be back from rehab soon, same with Harvey (Hunter type). Either one could be held until the 1st to be activated. Catching is what it is. Cumberland has been a busy this season besides being a target for pitchers to throw at (literally) and Nick Cuiffo is just happy to have a job. I’d like to see Bannon and McKenna. I’d also like to see Mason McCoy.
  2. In previous years (prior to 2020), September 1st was the time when teams could carry their entire 40 man roster in the dugout. Usually 3rd catchers, extra pitchers and some defensive replacements and/or younger players. What made it fun was having these debuts, the “will they/won’t they” with the call ups and the randomness of a few. However, that got nixed. So now it is just “2 players. One pitcher and one fielder.” So much fun… With that being said, who do you want to see up? Be realistic. No Adley, or Cowser or Zach Peek.
  3. How much sage do you think the Orioles could get for him?
  4. They changed things about a month and a half ago. AAA had their season extended a few weeks as a “playoff push,” where the the teams are champions based on their overall record. Low A, High A and AA all have a 5 game series between the top 2 teams to end the season.
  5. Per, well, everyone, Makiel Franco cleared waivers, requested his release and was granted it.
  6. For anyone that missed it, Blach underwent Tommy John last year before the season started. He re signed with Baltimore this year and has just started his rehab assignment, pitching in Delmarva. Only 5 innings so far, but any progress from that surgery is good. I would expect Blach back next season and in AAA, ready for a shuttle ride. Akin did good today, but they might want to keep a low cost, veteran left handed pitcher around.
  7. Thanks for posting this. I was curious about if this also had an impact on Brett Cumberland, who hit the ball. In May, Cumberland was hitting .254. Not great, but since then, Cumberland hit .194 in June, .161 in July and now .135 in August.
  8. In before Wynns and Mancini are banned from the stadium until first pitch.
  9. Wynns got the bunt down. I’m fine with it. Puts runners on 2nd and 3rd with only 1 out for Mullins, plus Wynns tends to pull the ball on the ground to the left, prime for double plays.
  10. This umpire is awful. There’s been quite a few pitches on Orioles hitters that were out of the zone and called strikes, while Angels hitters get strikes called as balls.
  11. Ohtani looks like he is throwing a Blitzball with the way the ball is moving.
  12. Probably the slowest person running, but that was still an impressive “scoop and chuck” by Iglesias.
  13. Geez man, how many at bats do you think he will have!?
  14. Cumberland doesn’t strike me as the type that would be taken in the Rule 5 or need to be protected. He isn’t hitting much in AAA and isn’t known for defense, which is usually the minimum for a back up. No one wants to protect Ryan Ripken? ?
  15. I actually totally forgot about him still being in the Orioles org.
  16. Combine that with them playing the same teams every few weeks and it does seem to skew the numbers a bit. Not that they were huge stars, but Wynns and Wilkerson were putting up some good (for them) numbers in AAA before coming up and…Well, not. McKenna was the same way too. I couldn’t grade Tyler Nevin since he wasn’t up long. Martin wasn’t in AAA that long. The only one who seems to have brought his bat was Urias, but even he wasn’t down long.
  17. With MiLB adding a few weeks to the Minor League season, Norfolk now ends the same time as Baltimore. That wasn’t the case before as there would usually be a few weeks gap. With the additional playing time now, plus the (in my opinion, horrible decision) rule of “only 1 pitcher and 1 fielder” roster “expansion,” we could see a bit more of a rotation as players won’t be in their off season.
  18. I’d rather have seen Rylan Bannon than Guitierrez.
  19. My big concern actually relates to the way the minor leagues were handled by the Orioles early on (I don’t think it’s still going right now.) Middle infield prospects, which is one of the many gaps in the MLB team, have been shuffled around. Instead of letting a player learn and develop at shortstop, third, or second, they are going all the over the dirt and, at times, the outfield grass. To me, that doesn’t help development much. That and the large amount of outfielders drafted. What’s the plan? Start putting them in the stands? Elias drafted Rutschman. That’s the best pick he has made. It was the no brainer one. Have some other picks looked good? So far, yes. But how many other draft picks have looked good during a season and then totally crapped out? The Calvary may be coming, but let’s hope their horses make it over the hills first.
  20. He is playing himself into a great opportunity for next season.
