Someone on Twitter had mentioned Lopez’s son being sick and the obvious response after was “did he get some bad family news and try to tough things out?”
I’m not sure I get what you meant.
Baltimore did option him. Then they DFA’ed him and he was claimed. Phillip asked who was on teams active rosters and I mentioned Sisco was in AAA and where some other players that were claimed went. It didn’t discount the fact he was claimed. He was optioned and then removed from the 40 for a spot. He just didn’t clear.
Now that was a statement game. The defense had some issues and extended the innings for Houston Roth a couple times, but he went 5 innings, allowing 3 hits, 3 walks (2 in the first inning), 1 run and 5 strike outs to get the win.
I’ll check tomorrow. I know Sisco was sent to AAA right away and so was Flaa, who was eventually called up. I’m not sure on Ruiz and everyone else I think was optioned down, then brought up at various times (like the Orioles have done.)
Armstrong was a trade.
Jay Flaa, Chance Sisco, Connor Greene, Shaun Anderson, Brandon Waddell, and Rio Ruiz were all claimed this season by other teams once DFA’ed.
I always thought this was a bit funny. When it comes to back ups (4th OF, utility bench, back up catcher), defense is valued and whatever they bring as a bat is a plus. But if they had a better bat, they would be a starter. But we wish they had a better bat…
I liked how he played when I saw him in Frederick and Bowie when he played against them. I was surprised he was left in the Rule 5 and could be good insurance for Hays/Santander.
Since Sisco is gone, I had to go to my backup.
But really, take a look at that play vs the one a few batters later when Hays got a ball heading towards the line. They held off on running on Hays due to his arm while Phillips said “yeah, I’m going.”
Also…Horrible read by Mullins. That ball shouldn’t have gotten over his head on the bounce either. Terrible play all around.
