  1. NFL attendance has drop around the league, much like MLB, just not to the extent MLB is seeing. Like most new stadiums, when they are brand new, they tend to be fuller at the beginning. I did find it a bit funny, in 2018, the Ravens had more fans in the stand than the Skins, for home games, and the reverse for road games.
  2. When they played at 56K RFK, they sold out football games, 100K seats at FED-EX was a bit of a stretch, they put a lot of fans in the stands. In 1969, they only drew 11K average to home games, yet, there was 9 teams, that did worse. The Original Senators moved to Minnesota and became the twins.
  3. Arm and range, was his issues, my old senile memory seams to recall.
  4. You and Frobby are spot on. Most will depend on their own performances.
  5. GM like copying others GM actions. 1 GM dumster drives, then many others quickly follow as they see it a way to put cheap bodies on their roster.
  6. Wouldnt investment money spent in Florida count as non player expenses?
  7. Redskins stink, and the fan still support and fill the seats, and always have, go back over the years, when they lead NFL in sold out games and yes, RFK was smaller than FEDEX but not that small. I am not a hockey fan, but love the caps, but willingly admit, to waiting for playoffs to watch their games, and I havent been to a cap game since Cap Arena in Largo. The Senators never had a real winning season, but in spite of that, their attendance wasnt bad, they had an idiot owner with thin pockets, who saw a golden opportunity and he jumped. I was a big bullets fan, until I fell out of favor with the NBA and wish the Wizards well.
  8. revenue sharing and cable tv deals have long taken attendance out of the requirement for the team to turn a profit.
  9. Even with the raw sewage issues, some say the Trop in Tampa is still a worse stadium. We have had that very discussion in OH before. Baltimore is not going anywhere, I dont care what the kool-aid drinkers say. They are entitled to their opinion, but that doesn't mean there is any validity in it.
  10. This according to wiki, is the 1890 standings. Just seams to be a bit off, if you know what I mean. American Association W L Pct. 11. and that poster is never ever wrong. So book it gone. Maybe the gold watch in the John D. McDonald book that could stop time for everybody but the person holding the watch. I wonder how many posters never ever heard of this book.
  12. Better thought, lets go back in time and correct past mistakes.
  13. For reasons totally unrelated to how Baltimore is. Rumors about Oakland moving have been in place for decades, trust me, I have family in the bay area.
  14. The A's survived years of Giant wins, and playing in the 2nd worst ball park in MLB.
  15. and he was right about the world being flat. LMBO
  16. I think the Nats going to the WS, send some of the doom and gloomers to start drinking the kool-aid. lol

  18. Some posters are just irrational. (not talking about yourself)
  19. In spite of being a contender for most of the season. MLB has some issues with attendance going downward. But, that does not mean baseball has one foot in the grave and needs to be administered last rites.
  20. Here is something to sink your teeth in. National Attendance while good, is still down from their past 3 previous years. 2019 Washington Nationals 27,899 2018 Washington Nationals 31,230 2017 Washington Nationals 31,173 2016 Washington Nationals 30,641 According to BBREF https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/WSN/attend.shtml
  21. Nats fan base is not all that rabid normally, IMO. They are riding the wave of emotions of being in the playoffs and now World Series, they had their fair share of doom and gloomers, back in May, when they were under .500 and playing poorly in 4th place. Baltimore supported their team through 14 years of extremely sad and troubling times. The team is not losing money and while Angelos family isnt as wealthy as some other MLB owners, I think they will provide enough to allow this team to be a contender.
