Awesome. Now that the figure for Rutschman is in ($8.1M) and coupled with Gunnar Henderson's figure ($2.3M) does anyone know if we'll have enough left over to sign the overslot kids we took late?
Just don’t take them to any games to “convince them”. They are likely to have second thoughts.

This guy had more hits than any other college player this year in either d1,2,or3.
Also 30 plus steals.
he is hitting .500 with the gcl orioles.

All further posts here are strictly to be regarding Gunnar.

I'm shocked that these very smart people are repeatedly engaging him. I have him on ignore, but unfortunately he gets quoted a lot.
Apologies. I guess I’m still new. I keep waiting for something positive and not cringeworthy in some of his posts, but apparently not from Negative Nancy.
His Fact is that Elias sucks.

2 #1 overalls never to play a game in the majors. I am not sure what you would call them other than "misses". Would "Biggest Busts of all Time" sound better to you
So are you knocking how the Astros built their franchise?

Lol people down voting facts.
Again, your “opinion” is that 2 are “misses”, and that Elias spearheaded both of those “misses”

It is about the player not the Orioles. The Orioles are the worst team in baseball for the second straight season. I am just stating facts. If you don't like the facts you should root for another team. Also I think the Orioles should sign Gunnar.
I have plenty of rooting interest in the team. I am a season plan holder, again, for the sixth year in a row. I get on the team for all kinds of stuff, but you are very consistent in stating that your “opinions” are “facts”

Did you know that Jim Palmer never gave up a grand slam?

Where did you get that from?
You are right. I guess you [ down] on everything the Orioles do - not just the draft.

Also pick 43 show similar results. As Elias has missed 2 times at #1 overall I wouldn't think he has any advantage over anyone else drafting in that range.
So what you’re saying is that the Orioles should never draft again???

I think that we have four other guys who have a bit more track record with high ceilings. The SABR guys love Akin and Mountcastle is a big bat. Grayson and DL are darlings. And of course Adley. But you would think top seven = right?
Has Yusniel Diaz fallen that far?
-
If we sign Gunnar and Adley today, they immediately both become top 5 prospects in our organization, right?

Speaking of interviews, I really wish somebody would reach out to Dan and or buck and see about arranging a “what went wrong” interview. I doubt it will happen, but I’d sure like to know what they have to say.
They would probably just blame each other.

It doesn’t matter. You asked how it’s unfair and I’ve pointed out how teams can be at a competitive disadvantage that is out of their control.
5 hours ago, Can_of_corn said:Right, can be. Not is, your assuming something with supporting evidence. Anyway no system would ever be completely fair.
I’ve got it. How about just a 3 round draft. Just for the top 100 or so players.
Keep the system the way it is for the rest of the players and roster construction.
Best of both worlds. Accomplishes all goals. Done. Erybody hapy.
-
I believe that they will spend all of the draft allotment, which was 13 million and change on the players drafted this month.

I don't think they will. Have they ever before?
Not before, but I think there is a new group in town, or something.
It would be sad to lose out for a few hundred thousand on some kid just to be stubborn.
But we are Orioles fans, so we prepare for the worst....

Draft Q&A
in Orioles Talk

When he is evaluating or scouting a prospect, what are some things about a prospect’s “makeup” that would be an immediate red flag, resulting in removal from consideration?
Which of these traits did Mr. Elias emphasize that he scout for?
