Sounds like he was a top hitter in DII. We also drafted Toby Welk, the DIII player of the year. I love that Elias is looking everywhere for talent. Who knows if these guys will do anything, but if you fill your system with guys who know what it's like to win, perform and always have a chip on their shoulder because of where they come from, those are the players I want in the system.

Is the 2019 Season a Blatant Tank Job?

It's Elias' job to do what's best for the Orioles organization as a whole. It's Hyde's job to win each night. I understand Hyde has almost nothing to work with each night but I doubt winning tonight is a top priority for Elias as it should be for Hyde. -
Is the 2019 Season a Blatant Tank Job?

Sure it's disappointing to see guys not performing well but a lot of the players will play a part in some way for our team's long term future. Some will be traded for future assets which plays a big part in the team's long term future. Some guys are playing now to help delay the service time clock of other players which helps the team's long term future. And some guys are young enough to straight up play their way into long term future's with the orioles (Means, Santander, Smith Jr, Severino) -
I talked about this previously, but in a year when we are still trying to get our foot in the door in the international market for players. I will not be surprised if Elias trades a player or two for an international player that signs on July 2nd. That's how the astro's acquired Yordan Alverez, their top-3 prospect. They traded for him immediately after he signed with the dodgers and it has paid off big time. It would not surprise me if Elias is going to use this tactic to add a top level international talent to an international class that sounds to be a bunch of solid but not elite talent.

What would Rutschman hit in the majors today?
JMU_Birdfan replied to DrungoHazewood's topic in Orioles Talk
I think he'd hit .260ish but lead the team in RBI's. One of those guys who comes up and you suddenly start winning more because he is always coming up to bat with guys on and knocking them in. (And I think our pitchers would start throwing just a little bit better.) -

Zach Arnold, SS, 6-2, 185, Temecula, Calif. (Great Oak HS) Ranked 189th overall in California and 37th in the state among shortstops by Perfect Game ... Named first-team All-Southwestern League as a junior in 2018 ... Hit .397 with three home runs and 15 RBI ... Finished with four doubles, four triples and 29 runs scored ... Went 10-for-13 in stolen bases and had an on-base percentage of .538 ... Suffered an injury as a sophomore ... A two-year letterman at Great Oak High School ... High school baseball coach is Eric Morton. Associate Head Coach Jay Uhlman: "Zach has flown under the radar due to an injury he sustained during his sophomore year. He has since recovered and had a break out junior year at Great Oak. Offensively, he has a knack for getting hits, creating runs to go along with developing power in his swing. These tools compliment his tremendous defensive ability. He brings speed, physicality and the athleticism necessary to play all of the infield positions. Zach always wanted to be a Duck and we are excited to watch him make his mark on our program."

If anything, I'm now more excited to go to minor league games. Instead of going to see (insert pitching prospect name here), the team will actually have some hitters. -

6’3” bats lefty. Scouts think as he fills out he might end up at third but stud none the less
