I don’t know a ton about him but my initial reaction was being surprised he wasn’t given more time coming off a big injury. I am curious if anyone has any feedback on him being cut loose. Obviously not a good start to the year before getting cut.

I am quite curious what changed as well. Maybe his $1.8m bonus money running out. He was 2018 before Elias, correct?
-
I love him. I strongly believe he is a great manager and will be a great one at the major league level at some point. I had the pleasure of meeting him at Spring Training, such a class act. Does anyone think he can replace Hyde? Just curious.

I honestly have no confidence that Elias would even take Green with the number 1 pick. Elias really stunk up that last draft and he’s clearly scared to take a pitcher in the first because of his two busted picks with the Astros. In fact, I don’t think he took a pitcher until pretty late last draft. Not a good long term strategy and being “Gun-shy” results in bad decision making.

It is beyond disgusting that in the year 2021 people think “Latin” is race. SMH. Not even sure what to say. Thanks white folk for telling me all about race.

Still likely a bullpen arm but definitely seen improvement!

Greatest at losing.
Agree with @24fpson the clickbait thread titles though. It's tiresome.
Someone on here referred to our black catcher as “lazy” but this is where you draw the line? Okay, got it. Good to know.

Better than 1970 Orioles?
1927 Yankees?
1939 Yankees?
Debate this team’s greatness.

I feel like he once again misused the bullpen today. Valdez was doing well he should have been in for another inning. Then if the next person did well keep him in another inning and of course not use Plutko. As soon as he came in I told my family he would give up a HR and we would be down at least a few runs and would not hit our next half inning.
It’s hard to evaluate Hyde but he doesn’t jump out as an elite manager but certainly not awful. You wonder if Elias wants him long term.

I wouldn’t even include Aubrey Huff on a list for human beings let alone on a list of great anything.

Hrbek was playing in 2018?
No he killed the Orioles.

Friendly reminder: he protected many of these guys like Armstrong over Zach Pop.

How about this guy for a bag of peanuts, he will never be any good, no sense in even letting him try: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/y/yastrmi01.shtml

We haven't beaten the Twins since opening day of 2018, so I don't see much hope for ending this losing streak anytime soon.
Memories of Kent Hrbek…

14 walks in 13 innings. Nice.
Low A and he’s the guy I would have selected so that’s why I posted him. Again, he’s playing baseball.

Hey now, only one of the two overslot guys from last draft has had TJ.
The guy that reminds me of Jomar Reyes has been healthy I think.
Elias missed with 2 first round pictures in Houston and is scared to select another. Is the problem the pitching prospects or his ability to evaluate pitching? He didn’t select a pitcher in the last draft until much later, correct? That doesn’t sound like a good strategy to build a organization to me.
At least Asa Lacy is playing baseball:

Just think how much extra value he can get out of those late round picks.
Lots of time for Tommy John & other surgeries! Mad genius!
