DFA Mateo and Hicks, send down McKenna. Start Mullins, keep and play Cowser, call up Ortiz to be the everyday SS. I would love to see lineups that regularly feature Westburg, Gunnar, Ortiz across the infield and Cowser. And also never see Mateo/Hicks in orange and black again.

Probably nothing. Any prospect can be a little disappointed when they perceive they’ve slid down the board. If that one write up stating he would likely go 10-15 was where his mind was at, going at 17 could be a slight disappointment initially.

Cmon @RZNJ @ me instead of giving me the anonymous “some you guys” treatment! Not sold long term on Mateo, although he has shown an uptick. Gunnar at 3b has the upside of when we put Machado there a decade ago, but yeah, he’d look great at short, too. With an external signing, Westburg/Ortiz I see as prospects that can be used to trade for someone to top the rotation since there aren’t any SP that look great on the FA market. There’s logic to spending on a SS as long as that third point is part of the plan. I just don’t see the rotation getting an impact player without a trade and those would be two good chips. at the end of the day, I do agree with you - I don’t think we spend big on any FAs.

Any pitcher or middle of the order bat will need to come via trade. As far as free agent signings go, count me in for Correa or Turner. Both would provide a big upgrade on Mateo and Gunnar holds down third for the foreseeable future. neither Correa nor Turner should hit third or fourth, but Sliding both into the 2 hole behind Cedric would feel real nice.

Regardless of who goes or who doesn’t go, Cito still sucks.
