  1. This is how I feel with Frazier. This guy is the most clutch guy on the team and people are haters.
  2. Frazier back in there. Good to see.
  3. Frazier is high leverage clutch guy. Great signing.
  4. I still clearly remember his debut. Watched it live on MASN and I never watch Nationals games. Still cannot recall a more hyped pitcher. He was throwing 100 with ease during an era when you didnt see that from starters. Had a nasty breaking ball. Struck out a ton that game.
  5. But every game in the postseason. How many postseason wins and hits does Mike Trout have. As great as he is, he ultimately still is, just an outfielder.
  6. They also failed to consider that the most important position by far is catcher. Seems strange to build your team entirely around a guy who stands in the outfield or a guy who DH and pitches once every 6 games. What about the guy who catches every pitch? Makes no sense.
  7. I think there is value in a young hitter experiencing pitch arounds. You don't want a situation where hes spending months in a level getting pitched around. But at the same time there is value in learning how to take your walks and hammering a mistake. That way, if and when it starts happening in the majors he will have experience being pitched around and wont get too anxious and undisciplined and get himself out.
  8. Angelos is probably already huddling with some shifty lawyer trying to squeeze out as much money for himself.
  9. Nashville is a growing city with a bright future ahead. Baltimore was once the 2nd largest city in America. And was the 7th largest city as recently as 1970. Our GDP is stagnant in the state of Maryland. And all the growth is concentrated in the DC suburbs which is Nationals market. Baltimore is the murder capital of the country. Has a terrible school system, has sky high taxes and lacks economic opportunity. This is a failed city. Just like Detroit is. Baltimore will only further decay.
  10. You may be correct. I havent seen their financials.
  11. I'm having a hard time understanding what your observation is here in this thread. You seem to be suggesting that there isnt much competitive advantage in being a large market team. When in the last 30 years only 1 small market team or to be more precise only 1 team with a bottom 3rd payroll has won. There is a relationship between market size, payroll and championships.
  12. The DC suburbs is wealthier than the Baltimore area. Those fans are Nationals fans. Our state economy is not growing. Our competitors are. We become a smaller market every year. Everybody with money leaves. Martin O'Malley made sure of that with his tax hikes. The first rule of state and local taxes is the more you tax the less money you have. The tax base leaves to another state.
  13. Baltimore is increasingly becoming a small market. The city and metro area isnt gaining much population. The GDP is stagnant. Our competitors such as DC, Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania are growing rapidly. What fortune 500 companies are prominent in Maryland? They are all going to Virginia for lower taxes and less regulations. All the wealthy retirees are moving to Delaware and Florida because of the much more competitive taxes. If it wasnt for our proximity to the national capitol and the prominence of Federal jobs we would be a failed state.
  14. People in hell want ice water too. Everybody wants their 1st round pick to be a superstar. Doesnt mean it's likely.
