It's positive news on the surface, but I am very pessimistic that any of our young stars will sign extensions until we start to see real cultural changes in the organization. Why would Gunnar, Jackson, Adley even consider it until there is some sign that ownership is serious about signing other supporting pieces to ensure long term success? A bit of chicken and egg I know, but if I were in their shoes I would be very hesitant to forego free agency.

Feeling very good about this signing... he will help and possibly be a solid closer, and it might make free agent starters feel better about considering signing with the Orioles.

2024 infield should be 3B Ortiz, SS Henderson, 2B Holliday, and 1B Mayo. Hold Westburg, Mountcastle, and Urias and/or Mateo on the bench as injury insurance and then potential deadline trade bait.

That Acuna contract will be a great example for Boras to show Gunnar and convince him to get to Free Agency rather than sign an extension.

It certainly SHOULD happen that way but it doesn't. This will happen every time the two best teams are in the same division, so not every year but frequent enough that they should fix it.
