  1. I picked the Jays too. I wouldn't be shocked to see a rebound but they sure seem to be on the road to underachievement yet again.
  2. Yeah, I got that it's about the save opportunities. My point about the offense is just, I think improvement from the rotation and middle relief is the more likely path to get more non-save W's. The offense is already killing it (though the pitching has carried us this week!).
  3. I've been impressed by Gunnar's defense the last few days. Not sure how many highlight-type plays he's made, but I feel like he consistently makes decently challenging plays look smooth and easy.
  4. More breaks than that please! I think what we need is for more bullpen arms to emerge into highly trusted 7th/8th inning roles so that it doesn't have to be the Cano/Coulombe/Kimbrel trio every close games.
  5. That'd be great but they're already first in the AL and second in MLB in runs.
  6. Another excellent outing from Irvin. It's a shame he was pulled-- it worked out, and it was good for Kimbrel to get back on the horse, but I wonder if Cole had a chance to go the distance tonight.
  7. I like how Cano has been pitching. He's getting even more ground balls than last year. And the K rate is up a bit, too.
  8. That's exactly why you put McKenna in, but I would have been interested to see how well Kjerstad played that ball.
  9. Cano did the job quickly. But that’s a disappointing move even if it works out. Bullpen can use every drop of rest the starters offer.
  10. Don’t like the pull there. But it’s consistent with how they used Irvin last year. For some reason even when he’s doing well they tend to pull him at low pitch counts.
  11. Are you talking about just this year? If so you're probably right about him being an up/down guy because there are so many guys ahead of him. But I see 1-2 rotation spots up for grabs next year even if all our current options are healthy. Povich has a clear path to the O's rotation in 2025 and beyond, if he continues to perform.
  12. The Yankees are on pace to ground into 187 double plays, which would be the MLB record.
  13. The walking part is true, though I was a little surprised to see how much worse Cowser's K and BB rates both are compared to last year. 2023 he ran a 22:13 K:BB, this year it's 33:9. Obviously this year's overall results are better. But it seems like he's still calibrating the aggression meter to MLB pitching and the current iteration has led to crushing the baseball (he's at 99th percentile barrel percentage), but a ton of K's and less BBs. Hopefully he can find a happy medium, similar to how Gunnar evolved away from being too patient at the beginning of last year.
