  1. Glenn has a better chance of getting in than Chris.
  2. That’s absurd, he slid as he was running out of room approaching the dugout and made a great catch. I wonder if the catch probability takes things like field dimensions into consideration. It’s probably an 80% probability in Oakland, but that’s about it.
  3. Over the six previous seasons his defensive bWAR is a combined -1.0. So I’m going to say no, he’s not the fielder you remember in his prime with Toronto.
  4. Whenever you see the trainer come out next to Hyde to remove a pitcher like he did today, you can assume they think he’s hurt (whether Kimbrel will admit it or not).
  5. I heard him quote Hyde as saying Bradish’s next start would be in the majors. I didn’t hear him say it would be against the Yankees.
  6. As long as your wife doesn’t ask you what exact eye color she has, you’re fine. (“I don’t see eye color, my dear… I only see beauty.”)
  7. I’m all for giving Holliday another 10-15 starts to turn things around. He hasn’t cost us any games yet, just a few runs in situational hitting, and the team has been winning. But you can’t remotely compare him to Gunnar. Even at the end of last May with his struggles, Gunnar had a .330 OBP and an OPS of .700. That’s a world of difference from a .108 OPS. I think Holliday will turn it around, but Gunnar was never that overmatched.
  8. One thing that made me laugh in last night’s unexpected nail-biter was when Yohan Ramirez hit Frazier with a fastball on a bounce. As Frazier is walking to first, a woman from the stands screamed out, “Attempted murder!! That was attempted murder!”
  9. You have to think that having no real MLB scouting report must have benefited Suarez greatly, especially coming out firing bullets as he did. I doubt he can keep / repeat this success, but what an amazing start for him. Great to hear the ovation he got as he left in the 6th. Well earned.
  10. I’m not taking a moral standpoint here, and have I used VPNs and such to skirt restrictions? “I cannot recall, your honor.” But it’s not fully above the board either. Given the absolutely insane price of cable in the US, do I understand the appeal? Without a doubt. There’s a decent explanation of what they’re offering here: https://www.techradar.com/features/what-is-iptv
  11. Because it’s not fully legal. It’s legal to sell and own an Android box, but not legal to add apps and watch content that you haven’t paid for. They just sell it and say, “Hey, we can’t control what you choose to do with it.”
  12. The thing that struck me the most is that he readily admits he’s not the most knowledgeable baseball guy — unlike a lot of owners, and that even in finance he “got lucky”. I know it’s the honeymoon phase and all, but he left a very good impression, and doesn’t seem the type to meddle too much in what Elias and the team do. Hallelujah.
  13. End of an era. My condolences to his family.
  14. “Um, my name is Buyer. It’s, uh… Swiss?”
