  1. Looking at those first few comments is why listening to the clutter of everyday Joe's of X/Twitter is worthless.
  2. Hyde has noticeably started to allow his starters to go further into their outings and work out of trouble in those 6th innings. I think that has saved his bullpen some as well. Now grant it, the quality of the starters have something to do with it, but I do feel Hyde has made some slight adjustments on how he uses his starters and relievers.
  3. Over the last month Westburg has out performed Frazier offensively but the overall numbers show them to be about even. Westburg's lack of power has been a bit of a disappointment. His home/road splits are pretty even so it not like it's just the The Great wall of Baltimore causing all of the problems. Even with Westburg's below average arm strength, he's an accurate thrower and has much better range than Frazier so defensively he gets the huge edge. I'm ok with Frazier getting some starts here and there to keep him somewhat sharp, but Westburg should be out there at least 5 out of 7 games.

I wouldn't go that far. Kjerstad can play RF to the point where he would be effective just probably slightly below average. Mountcastle should have never ever been on the left-side of the infield. Every single real evaluator/scout knew that because of his arm. Mountcastle ran/runs pretty well and a good development organization would have put him in left field to see if you could get outfield value out of him. But Duquette was convinced he would have "more value" as a SS. Of course he would have more value as a SS but no one, and I mean no one thought he was ever going to play SS at the major league level. But, back to Stowers in his thread. Hopefully he's ok and won't have to go through concussion protocols. I'm sure he probably ended up with some stitches.
  5. Yeah, I don't subscribe to that theory too much. There are a lot of factors that go into the amount of runs you score and give up. Overall I understand the concept of if you give up the same amount of runs as you score it equates to a .500 win percentage, but it's only a very generic tool. BTW, the Orioles W-L Pythagorean is now 76-56 which would still be the 2nd best record in the AL behind the Rays.
  6. This is why I think Fuji pitches himself off this roster. He's not good in high leverage or super low leverage.
  7. I love how Hyde looks like someone just took his candy in almost every in game shot!
  8. The Orioles' Pythagorean W-L should increase after this series.
  9. Think you definitely have to pitch somebody besides Cano in the 9th.
  10. Good Lord, when the Orioles turn it on, they turn it on!
  11. No, no one gets your pun with a pitcher called Bummer.

Both accuracy issues and occasional arm strength issues. His throws are inconsistent.
  13. Don't forget to give Dan Duquette some credit here for selecting Santander in the Rule 5 draft despite coming an A+ level season at 21-years old. If I recall, the Indians thought no one would take him because he underwent shoulder surgery after the season and would miss part 2017. The craziest part, the Orioles took him in the 2nd round behind Red Sox outfielder Aneury Tavárez. It's kind of like Elias getting Tyler Wells in the second round after going with Ben McDonald's nephew Mac Sceroler in the first round. Wells was coming off missing a season due to Tommy John and COVID. I guess the second round is the charm. Santander (7.6 rWAR) has now surpassed Jay Gibbons (6.1 rWAR) as the Orioles best Rule 5 selectee ever.
  14. Rodriguez is the only one I'd have any concern about but as long as he's pumping 100 MPH in the 6th inning of starts I'm going to assume he's just fine. I don't think we'll see any concerns with Bradish and Kremer when it comes to innings other than to pull them after the 5th inning and the bullpen is fresh if they maybe got a big lead. I forgot about Wells when talking about Sept promotions in another thread. I suspect he will get that call and go to the pen with Baker and Baumann waiting in Norfolk in case of injury.
  15. This is my worse fear. They rehab him and then in spring training next year it doesn't help and he's off to surgery. Now a season and half is done vs one season if he does it now. I certainly don't have all the details so I don't have a strong opinion other than if it's even close to a tear they should just get the surgery and not risk losing him for part of 2025.
  16. I tend to believe this as well. If it's a grade 1 sprain, they could very much go with a rehab approach, but I would be pleasantly shocked if they started him back up this year after reading through the UCL discussions and rehab, even with a grade 1 sprain. Either way, if it was torn he'd be in the surgery room already IMHO.
  17. At 134.1 IP, Grayson has now pitched more than 31.1 innings more than his career high of 103 IP in 2021 and almost 50 innings more than last year and we haven't hit September. He absolutely looks like a stud out there right now so I hope they allow him to keep going unless he looks like he hits a wall. Sure would be nice to see him, Bradish, and Kremer leading a playoff rotation, but we have to wonder will the Orioles pull the plug due to his innings limits or put him in the pen? This is a real interesting case. The Orioles have traditionally babied their young arms especially when they haven't been built up the year before, but this is a true pennant race and Rodriguez is showing no signs of fatigue.

I look at him like Hays. You can put him in CF and he'll catch most balls, but he won't give you the range that a Mullins or any elite defensive CF gives you. And he's big so he's going to slow down even more. Saying that, I could see him end up the big Camden LF and doing well out there. Think Steve Finley-type.

Cowser will be fine with more experience in LF or RF but he doesn't have the foot speed to make up for his lack of jumps to play CF regularly at a high level at least. Kjerstad will be ok in Camden Yards RF, but I have not been impressed with him overall in the outfield. He catches what he gets too, but I've seen a few too many sub par throws and some balls I thought he should have gotten too. I'm guessing he will come up as below average in jump with statcast and he probably has about average speed.
  20. True. Earlier in the year when he was having some success late in games, a lot of that came in games he started and was playing regularly. I was surprised when I looked these #s up a few weeks ago, but he's been a really bad PH this year going 1-for-16 with a walk, HBP, and SF (19 PAs) and no RBIs. The only good news is he's only struck out in two of those PAs. Now, these are clearly SSS stats so I looked at his career PHing stats and they are .222/.336/.291/.626 in 128 PAs with one home and 7 RBIs. So the more I look at it, the more I think he might not be a very good part-time player and he's certainly not a good option at PHing unless you just need a guy to put the ball in play. With his lack of speed and defense, it's not like he's bringing much else to the field.
