  1. Let me tell you, I'm not sure why all catchers don't throw the ball up the line 5 feet now... Wow.. Did Cedric slip? Is he slower since the injury. How did he not steal that?
  2. BTw, I know a lot of people bet on games on these apps, but why do they make all of these guys douchbags? I mean the guy that does the "Bird mascots thing with the bird thing across his chest is one of the douchiest vibes from a guy I've ever gotten from a 30 second commercial.
  3. Just a heads up, it's raining pretty good just west of the city at my house!
  4. Well maybe Adley needs to do something to get back on the national scene.
  5. There's no jumping anything. It is clear to everyone paying attention that Adley/Gunnar were treated differently then Stowers/Ortiz/Vavra. Now I'm not saying that Elias still think Ortiz can't be an everyday player, but he allowed him to be buried on a bench while Mateo and Frazier got PAs over him. If that were the case, he should have been in AAA because Henderson and Urias can cover down on 2B and SS when needed. You bring up the Lester's of the world to fill in for a bit. But regardless of the reason, he was treated like Stowers and not like a top prospect. We now have to see if Westburg will get the same treatment. We won't know for sure until the Orioles face a right-handed starter.
  6. Let's say that is true, does that make sense to you? The minor leagues are about the development of prospects. Westburg should have been playing the positions he was mostly going to play at the major league level. Prieto can play SS. It's pretty short sighted to play Westburg mainly at SS if you don't plan to play him there. BTW, he was actually pretty good this year at SS. He was very consistent and made some nice plays. While arm angles and ability to throw moving away from his target are not great, I do think he could play SS effectively enough at the major league level as a fill in.
  7. It's really hard for anyone to argue with this. Elias showed his hand a bit by bringing Ortiz up to ride the pine. Now he will say all the right things about Ortiz, but actions speak louder than words. The real question may be does the rest of baseball think higher of Ortiz than Elias? Personally I think he can be a very good everyday major league shortstop and a GG caliber second baseman. I would have played him over Mateo and Frazier, but's hard to get into Elias' head. Afterall, he started Westburg only six games at 2B while giving him most of his time at SS and 3B in AAA this year then starts him at 2B in his major league debut? It seems like the development side is not always on the same page with how the players will be used at the major league level. Westburg should start tonight against the lefty, so the real key is whether or not he starts on Wednesday against the righty. As others have said, Ortiz is a similar prospect level and was treated as an up down guy bench piece for most of his major league time this year. It remains to be seen how Elias plans to use Westburg against righties. Most of us are hopeful he gets the Adley/Gunnar treatment and not the Stowers/Ortiz treatment. I'm done trying to guess along, but Elias is way too unpredictable with his usage of rookies. And before anyone gets too upset with me for saying that, I'm not bashing Elias. I'm just pointing out a fact. The team is winning and at the end of the day, a GM gets graded on wins and losses at this point so right now he's getting an A.
  8. Yeah, I'm very familiar with game logs in baseball reference. Even if you are winning to "do the math", which I'm not by the way , sometimes players change positions during games and you'd have to go into the game itself to see when he switched and that's a lot of work. There is just no easy way to get that offensive specific breakdowns while playing certain positions. Saying that, feel free to do the math and give us the break downs!
  9. I know this is the second guessing Hyde thread, but I'd like to say I think Hyde has made some adjustments of late to how he uses his bullpen. One, he's allowed his starters to get through 7 innings a few times now, even after the starter gave up a hit or got into a little trouble in that 7th inning. Yesterday he let Zimmermann go three and with a very fresh and rested pen, he gave Baker, Baumann and Perez each an inning so he didn't burn them for today if needed.
  10. I would imagine most hitters hit worse against relievers nowadays because of the way relievers are used nowadays for the most part. I think the fact that the Royals and now the Orioles have given him very little PAs against lefties speaks volumes. Right now it appears O'Hearn has settled into a role that he's comfortable in and with Santander and Urias having the ability to play there, there's not a lot of need for him to start against lefties.
  11. MASN really is the lowest common denominator when it comes to rain delay shows.
  12. Yeah, what MASN knucklhead shows a game from the dark era as a Rain delay game?
  13. Wait, did you really say DD was supposed to talk Angelos out of getting swindled by Boros? At the time of the deal, Showalter and Anderson had way more pull than DD.
  14. Nah, they're going to pop up here and there. One just popped up over my head and I'm in the Elkridge area. Just gotta wait them out a bit.
  15. Coming into tonight, Rutschman is slashing .203/.272/.338/.609 in 18 games in June.
  16. Exactly. it was like when the Mariners pitched to him in the bottom of the 10th with the runner on second. I thought for sure they would walk him since his run didn't matter and it set up the DP, but they thought could and did get him out. No one fears him right now.
  17. Adley is in a funk right now. And really hasn't been very good for awhile now. They need to consider moving him down in the lineup until he can break out of this.
  18. Heck yeah... There you go Hays... Making him pay... Hays is so locked in this year.
