  1. Damn, I didn't know they would pinch hit. I would have gone Winker. I knew whatever lefty with power came up was going to homer off Seranthony "Giver of homers" Dominguez.
  2. I think because of his success with guys like Coulombe, Webb, Perez, and Cano that he can find these guys anywhere and that he doesn't need to overpay for them. We already know he knows he can't draft and develop them.
  3. Boy, sure glad that Jimenez is taking up roster space with his power, athleticism, speed, and defensive versatility.
  4. Terrible strike call to put it at 1-1, but you know all you have to do is put a slider six inches off the plate and Mountcastle is whiffing on it.
  5. Dominguez is in the game already and most likely will pitch the 9th.
  6. It is necessary because Elias has provided Hyde with no better options and that is not good on a competing team. But when you decide waiver fodder and struggling pitchers on other teams are the best way to build a bullpen vs acquiring impact arms or better yet, drafting and developing bullpen depth, you get what you get when a few guys go down.
  7. Sounds like he's having another bad day. Even the best of players have bad days, but sure would be nice to see him take care of the routine play more often.
  8. He also has allowed three earned runs and we know that he has totally sucked lately. You want him there, you can go to the Hyde school of bullpen management. I don't want Kimbrel pitching anything close to a tie game. He's a disaster waiting to happen every time he pitches.
  9. i know that Tate is not here. I'm saying I would have preferred him to be in that spot, which means they should have sent Burch to the minors since he was worn out. I know they were not going to cut bait with Kimbreal. BTW, we all know Kimbrel can't work on back to back days.
  10. Just watching on game day, but can't foul of a middle-middle changeup. Just can't. You have to make a pitch hurt for that kind of mistake. that as 100% on Gunnar not coming through on that pitch.
  11. I wonder if Hyde is like, "If you are going to keep him on the roster, I'm going to pitch him key situations," just to send Elias a message. I 100% would have preferred Tate in that situation.
  12. Just got out of a meeting. Can anyone explain to me why Kimbrel was pitching in a tie game in the 7th inning?
  13. Not sure where he fits unless this is to just ensure Mayo stays in the minors all year. Seems to be a good defender at 3B but can't hit his weight. I guess he's Urias depth? His statcast chart is pretty ugly offensively. Elias seems to really value's slow, right-handed batters who have trouble finding their game power.
  14. That's fine, it's your right not to like that number of games, but you went an cherry picked a group of games that fit your point as well. We actually don't disagree all that much on the state of the Orioles. I've seen the posts from people who think the Orioles are terrible, but whether they pick a certain amount of games or not, the fact is the team has played .500 ball for a long time now. That's who they are RIGHT NOW. Does that mean that's who they will be in late September? Nope. In the end, all past performance tells us is the past. But, we can look at our current rotation (with Eflin out) and bullpen and have questions on how good this team can be without getting healthier. If Eflin, Rodriguez, Coulombe and Webb come back and are successful I'll feel a lot better about this team's chances in October.
  15. As a obvious attack on my post, I feel a need to respond. 50 games is not cherry picking any more than your stretches of .500ish over 32 games. So before you get too high on high horse, realize you are doing the EXACT same thing. The 50 game mark was chosen because it's a nice round number. If I had picked 47 games or 52 games you'd have a better point, bur you're all fired up for whatever reason. But let's pull the string a little more. Honestly, unless you're reading comprehensionally challenged, at no point did I suggest this was a below ,500 team. Personally, I believe this is .500ish team that has been decimated by recent injuries. The team is not a 100-win team and we should no longer expect them to win 2 of 3. of series because this bullpen is a dumpster fire, partially due to injuries of Coulombe and Webb. Starting pitchers are dropping faster than temperatures in December. Saying that, this team will make the playoffs, and how healthy they are and how well they are playing will decide how far they go. But to attack people as cherry picking is really being dishonest when all you did was the same thing to give you rosy picture view. The fact that you did it so condescendingly is pretty disrespectful, especially for a long time Hangouter.
  16. He still had to warm up. Remember, regardless of how many pitches a pitcher throws in a game, getting him up and throwing takes a toll.
  17. Before Hyde used him on back to back games (Aug 15 and 16th) Burch had not pitched with less than 1 game rest, typically more, this season. Hyde then ran him out three days straight. Since he was used on back to back games, Burch has allowed runs in each appearance. Hyde has pitched him 4 times in the last 6 days. Let's just say there are rented mules in Mexico worked less. This is why the bullpen needs a guy that can go 2-3 innings when needed to protect the bullpen.
  18. Have to imagine he's a huge DFA candidate. Edit: Just saw that he was DFA'd
  19. Cowser of course is 15-months older than Gunnar, but I'm not going to lie, I would not have expected their numbers to be so close at that many PAs. I don't expect Cowser to become an impact hitter like Gunnar because of his struggles against curveball and off speed, but he has the tools to be a very good hitter for a long time in this league.
  20. Honeycutt will be #4 or higher depending on if Holliday or Povich graduate from the list.
  21. Age doesn't care about the route a pitcher took. It matters because of the amount of progression a pitcher makes at that age and beyond when it comes to command is typically minimal. Fruit has certainly put himself on the distant radar and probably deserves a promotion to AA to see how he does there, but I I've seen players like this that get write ups and suddenly he becomes a "prospect" in some fans eyes. He's shown improvements over his pretty bad numbers in college, but the one thing that is very similar is his K-BB ratio, which is not great. I'll go back and watch more of his latest starts to see if I see anything in the stuff that jumps out at me, but I'd like to see a little more domination and less walks for a guy pitching to much younger competition.
