Mountcastle has trended the wrong way since arriving on the scene in 2020. He still has very good statcast numbers for hitting the ball hard, but his swing decisions have not improved and the scouting report is out on his hole low and away. He also has not improved his plans at the plate when facing a pitcher. In fact, it's almost regressed a bit. He should know that pitchers are going to pitch him low and away and probably off the plate so I can't be swinging at those pitches with less than two strikes. With two strikes, he needs to have a going to RF mentality until he forces pitchers to move the ball back inside where he's more comfortable and does more damage.

I had the 30th against the White Sox at home as the date pegged for Henderson's promotion for awhile now. With the promotion of Ortiz, you gotta imagine he's getting the call.

2022 Draft Tracker
Tony-OH replied to Tony-OH's topic in O's Amateur Draft and International Signings
Quick bump to put it ahead of the 2021 tracker that was bumped by someone. -
This is where I think Elias screwed up a bit. They should have placed Rutschman on the IL instead of optioning him on April 8th to Norfolk. They then could have sent him on a 30-day rehab and brought him up in early May, just a a few weeks earlier than they promoted him anyways. Then I would imagine he would have been eligible to earn them a draft pick. If I read your rules correctly, now the only thing Rutschman did this year was burn a full service year once he ends up in the top two of the ROY vote which barring a collapse he should do. This why playing these games sometimes backfire on teams. Also, how many more wins would the team have with the extra two weeks of Adley?

I know tis is not the thread's topic, but THIS!!! The Orioles have babied guys like Rodriguez, Hall and Baumler and all they've done is seen them end up injured anyways. Anyways, on to Henderson, I think everything has been about keeping his rookie status for next year, even once the Orioles were deemed to be wild card contenders. I suspect we'll see him promoted before September 1st, but then again, Elias has been pretty unpredictable when he's promoted top prospects. The real question is who sits when Henderson comes up? Urias or Odor. I don't think they have enough data on Henderson turning the DP at 2nd base and we know they don't like anyone but Odor there defensive because of his DP turning abilities. So I think Odor continues to play and Henderson goes to 3B and perhaps platoons with Urias there for a bit to ease him into the majors. Nevin is still on this roster so they have a player they can easily demote or DFA to make room.

Hall is definitely a guy I would include in a trade for a legitimate TOR if that's what it took. While he's had an amazing start here and there, I do have some concerns about his command and AAA RHB have not exactly been dominated by him (.233/.354/.375/.729). I still think he has a chance to be starter at the big league level, but I would like to see him dominate AAA right-handers a bit more before thinking TOR. I think he have a hard time making it through the 5th inning very often right now at the big league level because of the amount of pitches it takes him to get guys out. Overall, he still has that promise, and he's not giving up many hits in his relief outings, but he's still allowing too many base runners and needing a lot of pitches to get through innings against AAA hitters.

No for several reasons. One, you don't need to protect him on the 40-man this offseason and two, they can only add 2 players this year. Cowser had a great year once he hit AA. Personally, I'd like to see him promoted and play the last few weeks in AAA, but it's not the end of the world if he doesn't.

And IF he's hitting a wall, the last thing you want is him coming up to the big leagues and over throwing and reinjuring something. I just am not seeing the same stuff I saw earlier at times. Then again, barring a few games this year, I haven't seen the same stuff I saw in 2021 before the injury.

Plans change though due to injury and performance. I would have been totally on the bring up Hall campaign, but I just see a guy who's pitching too much like Tanner Scott. He's behind every batter and honestly, the velocity seems to be a bit down from the reports from the announcers. If the team had up to 40 spots to give it would be a no brainer to still bring him up, but with just two to add, I don't think he's what they need right now. I'm not even sure what role I'd want to see him in other than mop up.
