  1. Holliday is seeing the ball well right now.
  2. Dang, Suarez lucky Walls has no pop whatsoever.
  3. This is the problem with Albert. He just tends to lose the plate and doesn't have that putaway pitch.
  4. Could have been, and Walls is pretty bad, but still, it's not like Rortvedt is Vlad up there.
  5. C'mon Albert. Gotta throw strikes.
  6. Weird how bad Orioles rookies generally look when they first come up. I really don't have any explanation. Holliday's looking lost his first go through, now Mayo swinging through 92 MPH fastballs is really just mind boggling.
  7. Thanks... Had Keefer on my mind for some some reason.
  8. While putting a hitter on does not always work, I do think Hyde's reluctance to walk these primo hitters in these situations is a bit of a mistake. He got lucky when Santander caught Vlad's missile at the right field fence when he should have been walked.
  9. Seems that Mayo is not going to get the Adley, Gunnar, Holliday treatment but will ride the pine, most likely because of his defensive short comings so far. If the Orioles have no intention of starting him they should send him back to AAA. Not a fan of taking uber prospects and having them ride the pine while a player like Urias gets the PAs.
  10. I'm just going to enjoy his hot streak and professional at bats for what it is, and that's a guy having a nice week or so.
  11. Now now, this is a celebratory thread, not one to pick another battle. While SG can have his days like the all the rest of us, he's much better than the early days version. You guys have learned to coexist by pretty much just not replying to each other. That's probably all for the best. Both of you are good posters that bring a lot to the board, even if that comes with burrs sometimes!
  12. Depends if Rubenstein wants to pay with the big boys and keep Burnes. Burnes is his first test as owner. But yeah, a 1-2 of Burnes and Eflin would look pretty good in the playoffs this year and the 1st two games of next season and beyond.
  13. Personally, I think the best we can hope for is Grayson is available mid to late September and will be able to be fresh for a playoff start. Saying that, he did not come back very mechanically sound during his last lat issue and it took awhile for him to get back on track. Elias holding a press conference to update about injuries is certainly never a good thing if his past injury update conferences are any indication.
  14. Watching Eflin pitch last night reminds me of how a mature, playoff-caliber, veteran pitcher is supposed to look like. The fact that the Orioles have him next year too is fantastic, but with Grayson going down, his presence in the rotation is huge. Basically we'll go into the playoffs with Burnes and Eflin at the top of the rotation giving the team two very good shots to win. After that we need one of Kremer, Suarez or Rogers to step up significantly.
  15. Wait, I was seeing posters scoff at the idea that he needed to adjust his leg kick. Of course they are same ones running victory circles after a small sample size after laughing at the people who made conclusions based on Holliday's first small sample. At the end of the day, the vast majority of posters here thought Holliday was going to be a very good player at some point. Am I glad to still have him? Sure, especially after Westburg went down so quickly after he was brought back up. Will Holliday give the Orioles a better chance to win a World Series that Skubel over the next two and half years? Maybe? But a young TOR is what this team needed with Bradish down and Burnes questionable after this season. I'll admit though, Eflin has done everything we wouldn't have wanted Skuble to do so far and was had without giving up a top 6 prospect so that was a great job by Elias. You also have to wonder would have the Orioles traded for Eflin if Skubel was acquired? It's a fair statement to say that you'd rather have six years of Holliday instead of two and half of Skubel. But I still believe a TOR is worth more than any one position player. Of course it sounded like Skubel wasn't available reasonably or maybe at all if some of the reports were accurate, so really this is all hypothetical. Holliday is on a bit of a heater right now and as was pointed out is hitting ball consistently hard. He certainly appears to be the everyday 2B here for a long time and I don't think anyone is too upset over that.
  16. Ryan has been doing a good job for sure. He's a smart baseball guy for obvious reasons and while he never made it out of the minors, that experience as a pro ball player gives him a unique perspective on things.
  17. I figured people would want to celebrate. We haven't had a person reported this many times since when Sports Guy would go on a rules violation bender back in the day!
  18. Nah, no worries at all. But thanks.
  19. I don't know how long the team will let Cowser keep going out there if he's in that much pain.
  20. Brian Roberts with the announcer jinx. He's seeing it so well. Cowser swings at ball by his eyes!
  21. the team is hitting him hard without a lot to show right now.
  22. Dang, that was a major league pop up. Wonder how close that came to hitting the roof?
  23. Eflin really does a good job of working the shadow zone.
  24. Political discussion.
