  1. Palmer has become such a homer. Mullins absolutely needs to make that catch. Degree of difficulty is about even for a major league centerfielder. Mullins botched this. He cost a run with a lazy effort earlier and then just blew a catch that has to be made. Bad night for Mullins defeinsively.
  2. Yeah, wasting your best length reliever in a 9-2 game is questionable at best, dumb at worse.
  3. Lyles gotta make better pitches. He had to battle this start but certainly was throwing garbage in the 6th inning.
  4. It really his crazy how much better him arm is then when he first came up.
  5. And that's what happens when you have a major league infielder catching a one hop throw from the catcher!
  6. Truth. And you have to give him credit. Anyone that bad who has convinced a major league GM to keep him on a major league team is pretty impressive.
  7. He's not good in any facet of the game!
  8. That's all well in good, but did you discuss how bad Chris OWINGS is at baseball too?
  9. That was not an easy catch for him. Hit his glove so he should have caught it, but Mullins started jogging way too early instead of taking over that play.
  10. That is 100% the outfielders ball. No way that should drop in. Mullins has to be coming in hard and calling off Owings there.

    Johnny Rizer 2022

Beau Taylor was the catcher. It does say Johnny Rizer in the boxscore but that's wrong. Would have been interesting if he did convert especially since he throws left-handed! lol Not sure what's up with Rizer. He was placed on the "developmental List" awhile back and was activated on May 25th but hasn't played. He hasn't played since early May.
  12. No much for a heat cramp. Uggh!
  13. Previous PR department appreciate this fact. One of the best compliment I got from a former PR director was that I was always fair to the team. I gave out praise when it was warranted, but criticized when warranted as well. I think this current regime wants to control the narrative as much as possible. MASN is team controlled so obviously Roch and Melewski are going to watch what they say and the Baltimore Sun is dying. What's left? MLB.com? Baltimorebaseball.com? None of them are going to be critical. The only people that are critical of anything the Orioles do are national media types, and they are all trying to keep their gigs as well so they reach for stupid non-problems like retiring Mussina's number. All I ever wanted to do was be fair, and give fans information they would not get elsewhere. Now the only thing left I have to give is my scouting or analytical opinions.
  14. I like Prado a bit, but I think there's a limited ceiling here. He doesn't have a ton of strength to his game and haven't really seen him drive a ball yet. I like Bellony more because Bellony has some pop, but Bellony's plate discipline needs to improve. Prado is worth keeping an eye on though if you like to look deep into the prospect scene!
  15. I appreciate it, but I know it doesn't matter. I know I don't matter when it comes to the Orioles information flow any longer. GMs once read our board daily. Basically they crowdsourced ideas and thought processes based off the Hangout message board. I know this for a fact because I've had one tell me. At the same time, times have changed. I think the people now think they have all the answers and that anyone over the age of 45 is too old to bring value. I had my run, and despite all the losing outside of 2012-2015, it was a lot of fun. But everything has a lifespan. The key is know when yours is up before you waste precious time that we have in this life.
  16. I was told by the first PR person that she knew I closed the site down back in 2020. I was assured by a VP that was not part of the decision, but who knows really? People have been cancelled in this current climate for much less. Honestly though, I don't really think that's the reason. I think I'm part of the cleansing of old school reporters who had sources in order to control the entire narrative and information flow. I don't even try anymore to find out and I don't even try to form more sources. It's just not worth the time and effort. It's all part of why I've decided my time is up!
  17. Elias is a tremendously better orator than Duquette. Dan Duquette has to be somewhere on the spectrum when it came to talking to people so he always came off awkward and really never gave out good information to the fans. Elias is happy to give interviews and communicate, but he really just gives a lot of fluff about the process. He seems to be a very good guy overall who willingly gives his time to different venues besides the MSM. Saying that, if you really listen, you really don't learn all that much because he truly believes he thinks he's developed the secret sauce with Sig. The thing that he doesn't realize is that hardcode fans want to know how long guys will be out or when they will see high ranking prospects. Heck, hardcore fans want to know why Brandon Young went on the 7-day IL and then was transferred to the 60-day. Alas, I believe Elias is not worried about the hardcore fans because I think he knows they will always come out whether they bitch or not on some message board that he care two squats about. He knows the average fan doesn't care about that kind of stuff and soaks up his hopeful rhetoric about the future and the process. To be quite honest, he's probably right.
  18. I can only speak to my experience over the years. In the past, i was able to get injury information from managers, coaches, and the Director of Player Development in varying degrees. I typically used text to get said information and although they sometimes would not get into the detail of the specific injury, they typically gave a general prognosis and potential timeframe if known. When Blood came on, he's the only Director of player personnel to ever not respond at all. He did send my request to the PR department who then told me to send all requests through them. After 26 years of doing this and being a good venue to get information out to the fans, it became very apparent the organization was only going to release information about minor league players on IL or not playing when they want to. I aske the PR department a few times and got the run around so I stopped trying with them. I have texted Elias in the past and he's given me some information, but this spring he kinda gave me the run around as well and then ignored my last request. Then I found out I no longer would have press credentials since the new PR department people created a policy that would specifically take me out. At the end of the day, it appears that Orioles as an organization have decided they will limit the information and press who covers the team in order to control the message as closely as possible. It is what it is at this point. It's disappointing because for years I could answer so many questions about minor league players on here or give updates on my 105.7 weekly spots. The Orioles have decided that is not important. They have decided that having the longest running website covering a professional sport is not important to the organization. They have decide that the hard core fans or live and breath this stuff are not important enough to be kept informed. Trust me, this is a huge reason why I will be stepping away from my current duties after 26 years running this site. The few perks I had for the time and effort were taken away so why should I continue to report on an organization that doesn't care about this site or the fans that call it home?
  19. He definitely brings a utility game to the field. His defense at SS is solid MLB average and above average at 2B. the question how much do you want from the stick. I'll see this now, he's better defensively than Owings at both SS and 2B and can certainly OPS less than .500! lol
  20. True about the underslot strategy. As for Rhodes, he's had a nice little year, but he's never really shown much game power, even in college. Until he does, his ceiling is not very high.
  21. Here's a fun fact, Mountcastle is only 13 months older than Stowers. Mountcastle was 24 last year in the big leagues.
  22. Yep, he was certainly ready pitching wise. Let's hope this was a cramping situation from dehydration on a hot, steamy night in Norfolk!
  23. When was the last time it ended up on the best case scenario for the Orioles a situation like this? I'm not panicking because it's not like he grabbed his side like Bleier did. But I'm an Orioles fan at heart, and I know that we're not allowed to have nice things!
  24. To this day I feel like this trade was a last gasp by Duquette to regain control that he lost after his the Toronto situation. He probably felt if somehow, some way Parra can make a difference and the Orioles sneak into the wild card, he would look like a genius again. instead, it backfired in the must extraordinary way by Parra being awful with the Orioles and Davies becoming a solid starter for a number of years, albeit pitching in the NL Central vs the AL East.
