They both make a lot of money and in the end they won't make significant changes necessary for the longterm health of the sport in favor of short term financial gain.  Expect a meaningless agreement with small changes.

If they can put 70000 fans into football stadiums they should have no reason not to open Baseball stadiums back up to full capacity when and if they actually play again.

Penn State and other colleges draw well over 100,000.

Tony Clark is incompetent. And I don’t mean that to say that he is an educated or not smart. He’s incompetent to deal with the task that he has. I don’t know why he was elected to his position but it wasn’t because of his skill at performing the duties associated with it.

Manfred is also incompetent, as well as So arrogant as to be almost a caricature.

Both Pit Bulls tho. Which is exactly why they gut their jobs.

I don’t think that rules relating to how the game is played are the top priority of the labor negotiations.   They are more concerned with how the pie gets divided than with how to grow the pie.   That may be short-sighted, but that’s how it is.   They can make changes to try to grow the pie any time, but the only time pie-slicing changes occur is when a CBA is expiring.

I assume the fact that they’re making lots of money will be the catalyst to get something done before the season is impacted. However, baseball seems to have the least trust among owners and players of all American sports. I’m not sure what to make of the complete lack of urgency. Is it because they know they’ll be able to reach an agreement but this is a bargaining tactic; or is it that they’re nowhere near an agreement and they need cooler heads if they’re going to come up with something. Either way, the lack of talks is concerning for an outsider.

Bash both sides up against their stupid heads, "Do you remember how much money you lost in 2020??? How much wages?"

Maybe into Feb cooler heads prevail, they give a little on both sides' position and work something out.

It would be helpful if we knew what the MLB rules will be the ball and what can be used to help the pitchers grip it.

Just as an aside... that's not a bargaining issue, is it? Can't MLB unilaterally implement whatever they want?

I agree! I love spring training man and this will be a particularly interesting one to follow.

Yes, ST is fun.... what will be fun this year (if it works out in time...) is the entire offseason signing.. season might be a month, 2 weeks, NO weeks. That is IF the sides can come to an agreement. But the whole FA signing period is going to be compressed into a VERY short period of time. Free-for-all shootout. Every player looking for a job. THAT will be fun!

@scOtt can be your groupie!   Very cool project.   I have incredible respect for the scientists who have the expertise to design and execute these space missions.   It’s pretty amazing to contemplate.

The math alone gets me! Flight trajectories and such. Like shooting an arrow 87 bazillion miles and hitting the bullseye dead perfect EVERY SINGLE TIME.

No doubt! One of the reasons (many reasons...) I always liked Mackus so much. Worked at Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD.
