Do you think they are telling Coby to hit the ball in the air?

    Coby Mayo quote:

    Quote

“I don’t really think about it, honestly. When we’re hitting BP, we have a focus of hitting the ball hard in the air, and the more we practice that every day on the field, the easier it gets to do when we’re playing. So I don’t really focus on the numbers during the game. We focus on just hitting the ball hard in the air and give us the best shot to win games.”

The tweaking done with Mayo since the draft has enabled him to better swing at his pitches and avoid putting balls in play that aren’t in his hot zone.

“I’m just trying to find pitches that I can hit hard in the air. Just trying to do that, execute the plan,” he said.

You can see the difference between Kjerstad's swing and Cowser's and see why Kjerstad generates so much power and Cowser much less.  Kjerstad with low hands and all hips.  A lot of leverage in that swing.

I used to play golf with a guy like that. Small guy, maybe 5' 7". But had an amazing hip turn. Could hit it a MILE!

He’s a part time video analyst.   Not sure that’s his title, but that’s what he does.

Not on the scale as Weams, but the Hangout lost a HUGE asset when Luke got that job!

    Whaddaya gonna do? :noidea:

  4. Very interesting play in the bottom of the first in game 6. GB to the 1Bman, looks at 2B, throws a little late to the P covering. The pitcher's right leg is heading towards the bag... runner actually steps right on the P's ankle, stops it from hitting the bag. But the runner's foot never actually touched the bag either!

Called safe. Didn't even ask for a review. Must be some rule technicality I don't know of.

All the minor league players are soon-to-be union members, almost all believing that they will shortly be benefiting from the MLBPA.  The experience of 1994-95 was that very, very few of them would cross the picket lines.  The strikebreakers from that era were indy leaguers and nondrafted players.  Way, way, way down in the player pool.  That's the main reason they never went ahead with regular season replacement player games, it was basically rookie league ball masquerading as the Majors.  This isn't the NFL, where players 90% as good as the regulars get released at the end of training camp and are free to be strike breakers.

I guess it would be cool if the "Orioles" won the World Series with a team 75% as good as the York Revolution.

I that a pending fact? Or dependent on the new CBA?

Or just because many MiLers will be coming to the majors soon...
