Well, kind of.   Roch clears up who the infield and outfield coaches are.  But the Orioles are not clear on who the bullpen coach will be and who will be in the dugout.   Seems kind of weird to have a rookie catcher and not catching coach in the dugout.

    Hyde was a catcher too.

I have seen that the owners proposed 29.5 and it was rejected by the players. I agree it is rare but it probably would be good if they moved to age based system... If they could agree on one.

You know the owners are going to push for the highest age, for longer control. The players will push for the lowest. How hard either side pushes, and what they are willing to give up to get it.. might make or break this negotiation.

Buck also had good coaches. Our pitching tanked after I believed Wiley? left the team. Also, Bobby Dickerson really helped Machado and Schoop. Having Hardy helped too.

I’d love for us to convince Hardy in the future to be our MLB infield coach. No matter who the manager is.

    This!

There's a whole series of videos on MASNOrioles youboob channel. Bobby working with several different infielders. ML knowledge just gushing out of him about tiny little subtleties that make you better and faster.

I think he’s our 3B going into next season. We literally have no other options. I expect an IF of,

    2B - Urias (Lock)

    3B - Guiterrez

    SS - FA(Iglesias or Galvis)

    UTIL/IF/OF - Mateo

    IF - Waiver wire claim

Iglesias or Galvis, can be brought in to help stabilize the defense for the pitching staff. They can also mentor the young IF. Also, Mateo could be an everyday option at SS, but he has to prove himself and win that job.

This. For the moment at least. And the moment is of course on hold. M.a.y.b.e.... Urias.

I would bet his ball speed is probably closer to 170

I'm not sure about that. In my prime I could hit 90-95. Couple long hitters I played with touched 105. A decent PGA player hits 120 ish. John Daly in his prime hit 130-140.

I'm not sure 170 is even humanly possible. Maybe with a machine.

It's not the worst thing but it's a pretty bad thing.

Even with a full recovery he's going to be 23 just starting his career as a pro.  It's going to be an uphill battle for him even if things go right here on out.

Elbows you can fix, knees you can fix. Shoulders (even non-throwing) are BAD. They're never right again.

Oh, I thought they were just emphasizing that everyone roots for laundry.  The players are all fungible.  When they use replacement players they'll just plug in new faces and push on like nothing happened.  The 2022 season will feature Keanu Reeves and that hot cheerleader.

If they replaced all the Orioles' headshots with the random faces from The Onion's American Voices feature how long would it take the average fan to noice?  Six weeks?  Six months?

You forgot the Wild Thing. He might could still pitch.

Not sure I understand this at all. So I guess Urias goes back to utility for the 2022 version of Maikol Franco? This seems like a deal you make last offseason.

    Call me confused.

I'm ok with this deal. It's nothing. middle infield depth with a little pop and probably cheap.

What's different in 2022 from 2021? Besides the CBA expiring, absolutely nothing. Last season we were hoping to make some organizational progress, and we didn't. Every minor league starter we brought up sucked. Period.

If Elias thinks the time is not right yet, then I trust him. Does everyone want us to go off half-cocked and spend a half a BILLION dollars like the Rangers?

Just watched Muscle Shoals (again).  Every tIme I see that documentary I come away revisiting a different memory.  The aging process is mitigated so very, very much by how many great songs I got to listen to when I was young and that particular window was fully open.

Many of the Muscle Shoals guys are the guys in the band in the Blues Brothers movie.

What documentary are you talking about? Something on youboob or a DVD? Cuz I'd pay a dollar for that!

I DID pay about 5 dollars for that! That and "Wrecking Crew." Another legendary backup "band" from L.A. I put "band" in quotes because they were around so long they changed. Just the best session players in the business. Look 'em up!
